wow, my pitching staff has done nothing so far. Bedard and Bonderman didn't do too well on Opening Day, and tonight Mussina and Bush both give up 6 ER. On top of that BJ Ryan just blew a save by allowing 3 ER. My staff ERA is 7.95 so far 4/6/2007 9:55:52 PM |

I didnt say that you could actually land one of the top players, but now would be as good of a time as any for a young manager to take the bait of maybe a 2 or 3 for 1 trade that would land you a top player. Maybe package together a Justin Morneau type with a Mike Mussina, hell I dont know4/6/2007 11:44:34 PM |

ok that trade got rejected and he countered with manny and jorge julio for berkman and sabathia. this doesn't even seem like its worth thinking about since manny and berkman are so close to each other in ability, and julio sucks 4/7/2007 2:55:21 PM |
Ernie All American 45943 Posts user info edit post |
well i'd hardly say berkman and manny are equal in ability
manny was down last year and berkman put up better numbers
both have probably peaked, but i'd still take manny in a one-for-one
however, sabathia should be pretty valuable this year and i'm not even sure julio has the marlins' closer spot nailed down
i'd reject it
--
here's my question
how much value do you gaywads put on clemens right now? i drafted him with my very last pick because there wasn't shit left -- how much would you give up for him?
i don't want to discuss particular trade proposals because bagelball managers are reading

^^ it really depends on when he decides to come back. he could be an elite pitcher if he's back by may, but if its the all-star break then i'd have to think about what i'd give up for him, because thats less time he'll be able to help you and you might be in a hole by then waiting for him. just spur of the moment i'd probably give at least my 3rd round pick for him, maybe higher depending on when he comes back. a package deal would be best though IMO
that same guy who offered manny for berkman now wants abreu, main cain, and robinson cano for manny, rickie weeks, and julio. methinks he doesn't understand the concept of trading, or maybe he does and its the definition he's lacking

Moyer is pitching v. the Mets. This season, he's 1-0 2.70 3K 2BB 1.35WHIP... not bad. But he's playing a high powered offense and his team sucks... so he prob won't pick up the W tonight.
BUT, I'm up 30 - 26 on IPs, up 4-1 on wins, 0-3 on losses, tied at 3 saves, up 20-18 on Ks, up 1.50 to 4.10 ERA and up 1.13 to 1.25 on WHIP...
Do I play Moyer? 4/12/2007 4:37:49 PM |
ElGimpy All American 3111 Posts user info edit post |
If you have another decent pitcher or 2 that have good chances of picking up a win before the week is up I wouldn't play Moyer. Against the Mets he'll probably do more to hurt your ERA and WHIP than help, and he's definitely not gonna run up your K's. And like you said, getting the W is unlikely. 4/12/2007 4:45:44 PM |
jamz0r All American 1612 Posts user info edit post |
^^ All depends on who you would play in place of Moyer, like ElGimpy said. If it's a solid pitcher, don't play Moyer. If it's a toss-up and you think you're going to get burned in either case, then I'd go with the veteran Moyer 4/12/2007 5:03:04 PM |

Are SB a category for your league? If so, I think Pierre will get more than Pods. I think Pods will score more R, but Pierre would probably get more 2B and 3B (and probably HRs, too. Pods hit his first one in 05 during the playoffs) 4/12/2007 5:18:15 PM |

I have Roger Clemens on my bench slot right now but only have 2 bench spots with no DL spots. Both Mussina and BJ Ryan went on the DL today. Do I drop Clemens and put both those guys on the bench or do I keep Clemens and keep Mussina active even though he won't pitch for another ten days? If I drop Clemens, I would likely grab a 2-start starter for the week like John Maine or Jon Garland. This is a 10 team standard 5 by 5 weekly league. 4/15/2007 4:31:48 PM |

Bump for an offer
I offer: Jason Bay (PIT OF) + Todd Jones (DET Closer) For: Billy Wagner (NYM Closer) + Adam Dunn (CIN OF) OR Wagner + Torii Hunter (MIN OF)
My league has H/AB, 2B, 3B, HR, RBI, SF, SB, K and AVG as batting stats. Normal stats for pitching

Bay and Dunn are about equal in my book, so essentially you're swapping Jones for Wagner in that scenario which is a huge upgrade.
With Hunter I think that's about an equal trade, possibly a little better for you. You're dropping down 1 tier in OF skill, but you're still bumping up what I consider a couple levels with the closer swap. Jones has 2 stellar arms, Zumayab and Rodney, just waiting for him to fuck up (possible) or get hurt (probable)

So who has been the biggest disappointment on your fantasy team so far, just based on initial expectations, pre-draft rankings, etc
I would probably say for my team its been Robinson Cano...luckily I've had Orlando Hudson to hold down the 2B spot, but I'm still hanging onto Cano just because he is in the Yankees lineup which always has the potential to put up some runs 4/19/2007 4:31:04 PM |

^^^ amen.
I have both as well, and my team is really sucking dick right now.
take a look at some of the players from my injury filled team:
3B Aramis Ramírez - already missed a few games with tendonitis SS Rafael Furcal - has only played 3 games this season b/c of an ankle injury OF Torii Hunter - hurt his shoulder (the inning after hitting a grand slam) and didnt play last night 2nd Robinson Canó - leaving me high and dry, suckin' dick so far 1st Prince Fielder - streaky fat boy. goes 0/4 with the frequency OF Alfonso Soriano - injured hammy and has been a bust so far OF Corey Patterson - grandmother died and has missed the last 4 games 2nd Kazuo Matsui - typically sucks, but I took a flyer on him after day 1 and he was playing awesome..unitl his fucking back blew out. On the DL until May 1st.
Tell me that isnt bad luck.

Howie Kendrick get hurt and leave the game.
Corey Patterson lose a family member and go home for a few days.
I dropped Ian Kinsler the day before he hit 7 HR in 2 weeks.
Gary Sheffield and Mark Teixeira start off like minor leaguers.
AND NOW FELIX HERNANDEZ GOES DOWN???
I went from being first place in my roto league by EIGHT points to being next to last in like a week. Jesus Christ.

Quote : | "Apr 23 Hunter could face a possible suspension or fine after giving a gift of champagne to the Royals last weekend as a reward for their 2006 season-ending sweep of Detroit, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. "I'm to blame as much as anybody because I didn't know the rule," Minnesota GM Terry Ryan said. "We'll end up righting the wrong. We've already contacted the Royals. They're going to return the goods, and hopefully that'll be the end of it." Recommendation: Hunter gave the Kansas City clubhouse four bottles of champaigne after joking late last season he'd reward the Royals if they swept the Tigers and helped Minnesota win the division. Apparently team officials didn't realize the gift would violate a rule that doesn't allow gifts for "defeating or attempting to defeat a competing Club." The rule violation carries a penalty of a three-year ban from baseball. While the penalty is serious, the Twins were quick to take back the gift and punishment from MLB is likely to be minor. Still, this is a situation to keep an eye on in case he's suspended for a game or two. " |

Alright, I was just offered three different, interesting trades in one of my leagues, I want to get some feedback. I really need a good closer, right now my RP are Benitez, Broxton, Eric Gagne (on DL), and Octavio Dotel (on DL)

I would get: Carlos Guillen Prince Fielder Al Reyes
Trade Offer #2 I would give up: David Ortiz I would get: Prince Fielder Al Reyes
Trade Offer #3 I would give up: David Ortiz Miguel Cabrera (my only backup 3B is Troy Glaus, who's on the DL) Eric Gagne

I've been playing him at 1B and playing Berkman at OF (since he's 1B/OF) but Sexson has been horribly disappointing...he went 2 of 21 last week...on the season he is batting .160 with 3 homers, 11 RBI, 4 runs, 0 SB...the last 2 years by comparison he had 30+ homers and 100+ RBIs...should I just sit him on my bench until he gets things rolling or should I try for a trade since I have Berkman? 4/25/2007 12:48:46 PM |
