Seriously, you have to be more naive than my grandmother to not understand how this works. You guys ever hear of a coach named Amato? Yea, when he was at FSU, and recruiting future pro bowlers, this was not an uncommon tactic of his. The Miami roomate of Ray lewis was gunned (in 94ish) down and Amato was known to use the newspaper clippings of that article on recruiting visits to often single mothers and ask them "Do you want your kid going to Miami where he might get shot in a senseless incident?" I bet he's laminating the Pata clippings as we speak.

Fair or not, who's to say, but certianly not against NCAA rules to reveal facts.

Now we all know this doesn't discredit Lowe as a parent, but you can bet coaches who we will recruit against will use it against us. Probably not Roy or K, their programs can recurit themselves so they can obviously take the high road with the media, because quite frankly, it doesn't matter to them.

Yeah recruiting is the not important when it comes to taking care of a son who doesnt know the meaning between right and wrong...to hell with recruiting b/c family def. comes first!

maybe when he's ready to get back out there and he's talking to a recruit and they recruit and his family are thinking and asking "what took you so long to come to us" and he tells em about the family issue and how some things are more important than basketball some families might respect that and think sidney is the man their son should play for.... you get what I'm trying to say

i suppose that would help the current situation, but it surely doesn't end up with a better situation than before his son was arrested on twenty two charges.

"Lowe isn't even charged with the original shooting offense. That Brian Patrick Martin kid is the one...where the fuck is his picture?"

They dont care about Martin because his dad isnt famous. I grew up in Gboro and this kinda stuff happens alot: they're used to it. It will all blow over.

To all of you who think this will be a significant damper on Lowe's recruiting, quit being so pessimistic. Yes, other coaches will remind players and their families about this when they say they are considering NCSU. Players will come here for Lowe's coaching and the bball program, not for what his dumbass son did. He is not their daddy, he is their coach. I doubt the parents give over custody of their sons to Sid when they commit. The players make the decisions, not the parents. Players may even feel more comfortable with a coach who has thuglife kids because you cant tell me the majority of bball atheletes dont act like they are thuglife.

Besides, after this becomes old news in a few months, he will be able to say how supportive wolfpack nation was of him and his family when things went bad and how all of this was a reality shock for him and his family that "brought them together" or something. Sid is slick, man. He (and wolfpack nation) will do a good job of damage control and could turn this thing around easily. Every parent knows their son may want to be thuglife and screw up, so why favor some "white cracker" like Roy (whos kids are not thugs ~ probably all spoiled croakie wearing golfers) when they can give him to a black father who has been through rough times with his thuglife son and knows how to deal with it?

Yeha with a huge bail like that Im sure he only had to put up 10%.

Unless he just put forth the whole thing in which case he'd get his money back in a few weeks. (doubt he's got 450k just laying around like that though)

If your bail is smaller or youve got FTA's the 10% rule doesn't usually hold.

I think its funny how many of you act like this will have no effect. If this was Roy William's kid we'd have ammunition for years. Total embarrassment. I don't want Sidney to be fired or anything, but this is about as bad as it gets for the University and the program. Be objective and think about it.

^embarassment , certainly. Ammo for holes and dookies. yep, same thing as embarrassment.

embarrassment is way different than a significant damper on recruiting and the basketball program. Or am I wrong about that? If so, give me a good reason other than looking bad with to some of the players parents, please....

Agreed. Most people on this board are so in denial, or blinded by the truth, its not even funny. And its not just with this, its anything dealing with NCSU. Its actually kind of pathetic.

^^I bet Sydney will care. And if you don't think personal problems with a sons coach affects them, why don't you give Andy Reid a call.

I agree on the fact that Sid's family is more important than recruiting, but there is no way of getting around it...this will affect our recruiting, the degree is not yet known and may never be known. I mean what kid is going to say "I didn't choose NCSU because Sid's kid is a criminal and deviant"?

well it's not as if this kid's going to go into exile. he really has no choice in the matter, even if he's cut and dry guilty, he's still better off turning himself in.

Is Sidney II's mother the same woman that Lowe is married to now?

Because his children now are really young.

I leave TWW for 2 days and come back to this.
