If it doesn't work, maybe you have a firewall issue.

I cant help but still think that the Saints rode Katrina pity all the way to the SB last year. The division is ours for the taking this year....

Agree on the Saints/Katrina momentum -- definitely some divine intervention going on there.

But you do know the Saints weren't in the superbowl last year, right?

looks like minter is done:

Quote :
"Carolina Panthers safety Mike Minter has decided to retire, a person familiar with the decision said Monday.

The person, speaking on condition of anonymity because an official announcement will be made Tuesday, said Minter made the decision over the weekend. He did not practice with the team Monday morning.

Minter said late last week he was pondering retirement because of chronic pain in his knees.

Minter, who was to enter his 11th season with Carolina, is the franchise's all-time leader in tackles. His 141 starts and 94 consecutive starts are also team records.

Before this season began, Minter took a pay cut to try and play one more year with the team that drafted him in the second round in 1997.

i figure he'll still be around in some capacity this season tho.

good article on mcclover:

Quote :
"Last week during a full-contact, goal-line scrimmage, Panthers defensive end Stanley McClover started barking. Yes, barking. Apparently this is not a recent development.

“That bark has been with me for a long time,” said McClover. “Gotta be an old dog. Can’t be a new dog.”

His bark, or woof, or whatever it was, inspired his teammates to make a couple of punishing hits, stuffing the running back in the hole for no gain each time. It also inspired cornerback Ken Lucas to ask what was wrong with McClover the first time he heard it.

“What kind of dog is that?” Lucas said. “That dog is sick.”

When Lucas stuffed the running back for no gain a couple of plays later, he attempted to chest bump McClover after the play. Lucas lost three yards on the exchange.

“That’s always been my game, coming up through high school and college,” said McClover of his more extroverted persona this season. “I’ve always been a loud person. I just like to motivate people emotionally. That’s just my style of play.”

It helps when you are one of the biggest guys on the team. At 6-foot-2 and 263 pounds, there is more to Stanley than there was a year ago. About 15 pounds more.

“I feel really good,” he said of his new playing weight. “I feel very stout against the run. I still have my quickness and my speed, though.”

That he does. McClover has been one of the biggest playmakers in camp so far. The caterpillar who only played in two games as a rookie last season has shed his cocoon and spread his prodigious wings, at least so far in camp.

“The biggest difference is just getting a year under my belt and feeling more confident in the defense,” said McClover, who garnered eight sacks in just seven starts at Auburn in 2005. “I’ve just been working hard. Sal (Sunseri, defensive line coach) has really been on me this year. I have to step up and be better than last year.”

The role of starting opposite Julius Peppers on the defensive line has belonged to Mike Rucker for the last five seasons. But Rucker suffered a season-ending knee injury last December (hence McClover playing in the final two games after being inactive for the first 14 contests), and it remains to be seen how often he can be on the field this season.

Where does that leave McClover? On the field in Rucker’s stead, if he has anything to do with it.

“My goal is to help the team out as much as I can and to be a leader on and off the field,” said McClover. “I want to take on that role and make things run smoother and get better and better each week in this defense.”

If his bite is anywhere near as bad as his bark, his teammates will probably do anything he tells them to do."

Our D-line should be sick-nasty this year with him if he's coming along like everyone says....I'd love to hear him start barking at the opposing team, and see how they react.

Quote :
"Minter didn't leave the Sunday night meeting or the news conference without a few words for his former teammates.

In the team meeting, he challenged Peppers, Jordan Gross and Steve Smith to take on bigger leadership roles.

That might have prompted Richardson's public message to Peppers.

As Minter wrapped up his speech, he looked out at his teammates scattered in the crowd and delivered his final message as captain.

"All I can say to you guys is, let's go win a Super Bowl," Minter said."

this may be a blessing in disguise. If he had tried to play this season, he would have got beaten badly alot it seems and our staff would already be relying on him as a starter. We would have been in a worse situation than we are in now. At least we still have camps and the preseason to work on getting the remaining DBs imore comfortable in their roles without Minter on the field....
