Did anyone else notice that "extra" who was in 4 or 5 party scenes looked just like a young Dwight Schrute???

^I think you're talking about Clark Duke. He's bff with Michael Cera. They did a 10-episode web series together. Pretty good stuff.

The first hour was nearly flawless. McLovin and the cops wasn't nearly as funny as they should've been. My favorite line had to be when the old woman says "Have fun fucking Jules" (paraphrase) in his fantasy.

My impression after my first viewing of this movie was "pretty weak," but I'll probably enjoy this more the second time I see it.

Without a doubt, this movie would have rocked my world when I was 17 years old.

I hated it. Not funny....expect for maybe a part or two. Dialogue was full of catchisms that were over the top...man, people don't talk like that. Every other word was pussy or my dick or just 150% teenage hormones sex talk that was forced. I mean, I remember those days - we talked alot a shit, but not that blatantly and we were somewhat subtle about it.

I can see a 'man I wanna fuck her, or get with her' instead in superbad it's littered, I mean littered with like 'I want her to suck on my penis head' or 'I want to put my penis in her VAGGGG'. I mean, way outta course...or maybe I'm just old?

nah hes right. the movie had some hilarious PARTS, but it also dragged terribly in certain areas, and for the most part, the type of teenage humor was played out and beaten into the ground halfway through the movie. would have been worth 1.50, wasn't worth what i paid in a regular theater really.

well i for one thought it was pretty silly. i think if they talked the way 'everyone talks' then it would have been a lot more dumb - just some stupid movie with nothing in it. he did write this movie when in high school though so ive heard so that explains a lot. i still laughed my ass off either way.

played guitar, played video games, went to shows, did HW. and actually come to think of it i do the same thing now, just with work instead of school during the day

If you are under the age of 30 and don't find this movie funny, then you have no sense of humor and should stick to watching documentaries on the History Channel.

i agree Superbad=Can't Hardly Wait
both suck, but can be enjoyed by a certain age group (highschoolers and noob college students)

just watch Dazed and Confused instead

i just watched superbad last weekend for the first time. It was not as enjoyable as I had hoped, but i think i nailed down the reason. DON'T WATCH THIS MOVIE FOR THE FIRST TIME WITH YOUR WIVES. Find a good group of guys and drink some beers and watch it together.
I was dying laughing for the first 15 minutes. I just loved the conversation and the dialogue. My wife just scrunched her face up and was like "what the hell is so funny?" I kept trying to explain it to her - "i don't know, you just have to have been a 15 year old boy at some point to get it" or "yes, that's really, exactly how my friends and I talked at that age". After a while, my wife was obviously not enjoying the movies (or I think she was enjoying it superficially, but not "getting it"), and i was just becoming self-conscious about how much I was laughing, so I ended up stifling most of my laughter and didn't really get as much out of it as I wanted.

having said that, i do think overall it was still weaker than the reviews have made it out to be.

and yea - Can't Hardly Wait is awesome, too. That's probably the only high-schooly movies from the past 12 years that's worth a damn (i'm sure i'm missing a couple, though)

no, i don't really consider Dazed and Confused in the same category/genre as Can't Hardly Wait. D&C was about high school kids, sure, but i consider it more of an adult drama/comedy movie.

I think Can't Hardly Wait fits into the same category as the rash of high-school bubblegummy-pop movies from the late 90s: 10 Things I Hate About You, She's All That, Varsity Blues, Never Been Kissed, Save the Last Dance (basically, any movie "Not Another Teen Movie" made fun of). The only difference is - those movies sucked. Can't Hardly Wait was smart and funny, and seemed to be generally self aware of the cliches and stereotypes it was playing into
