Though LT is the best RB in the game hands down, I think Turner may be the way to go in this one.
He can plow through people better than LT, which he needs to do because the run blocking has been terrible. 9/9/2007 6:37:03 PM |

Solid game by Phil today against a very obviously tough defense... now we get to see how much better he is than Eli going against an inferior (but not bad) defense tonight. 9/9/2007 7:06:50 PM |

None of the analysts pick the Chargers
Quote : | "San Diego at New England: The Patriots will figure a way to contain LaDainian Tomlinson. New England can put points up in a hurry. The Chargers don't have that ability" |
Did they even watch the Chargers last season? Maybe they just missed the Bengals game.9/14/2007 11:05:24 PM |
skokiaan All American 26447 Posts user info edit post |
Actually, they are right. Phil's long ball is not nearly as accurate as Brady's. Add that to the fact that the Chargers receivers are terrible.
It's much more likely that NE can execute a big play, quick strike score.
[Edited on September 14, 2007 at 11:15 PM. Reason : And the bengals were terrible on defense last year] 9/14/2007 11:13:41 PM |

The Patriots may very well be more likely to score fast, but the quote indicated that it wasn't possible for the Chargers to score quickly (the highest scoring offense in the league by 4 points last year). 9/15/2007 12:19:01 AM |
skokiaan All American 26447 Posts user info edit post |
The guy's point is clearly that SD can't match NE's offense, and that's why everyone is picking NE over SD. It may be stated with slight hyperbole, but you are hiding behind pedantry in an attempt to deny that main point.
Last year's regular season offensive accolades don't mean dick considering the pats beat SD straight up, and by all accounts, the pats are better this year (thanks to massive offensive upgrades). 9/15/2007 12:50:07 AM |
AndyMac All American 31922 Posts user info edit post |
They beat them by luck and numerous charger errors (mostly mental screw ups).
They Chargers easily outplayed the Pats last year, change 1 of 8-9 things that went completely wrong for the Chargers (for example, the Charger headbutt that turned 4th down to 1st down, and the 4th down interception, then fumble, that gave the patriots the ball back, when batting it down would have won the game) and it would have been a completely different post season.

And the guy's point is laughable.
The Pats may have upgraded their offense, but the Chargers still have the best RB and TE in the league. They have everybody back from an offense that led the league in scoring and nearly set a record for points in a season. They have a coach who is known as an offensive genius. I guarantee you they will score more points than the Patriots this season.

The Chargers had plenty of big play, quick strike scores last year. Not only did Rivers find Jackson and Gates deep on several occasions, but LT broke off quite a few long touchdown runs. Expect more of the same this year.
PS the Chargers beat the Patriots 41-17 2 years ago in Foxboro. They would have won by a similar margin last year in Qualcomm if they hadn't imploded because of Marty's poor coaching. Expect a dominant performance by the Chargers on Sunday.
