Who are the Cavs going to give up to get Jason Kidd? They don't have any good players as it is, they can't afford to ship any of the decent ones away. 1/31/2008 2:30:28 AM |

Lets take a second and talk about the Nuggets.
AI and Melo are on the All-Star team. Marcus Camby is having a great season, and according to Barkley should have made the All-Star squad. So why do they suck so bad?
My analysis: George Karl is a fucking bum! Fuck him and his lackadaisical attitude and poor coaching ability. And take that UNC pedigree and shove it up your butt, you fat piece of sh*t.
Okay, I feel better now. But seriously it really saddens me to see Iverson languishing on a team with so much talent, that I know has no real shot at ever winning a championship. Why basketball Gods, why? 1/31/2008 8:07:42 PM |

also with the exception of Camby, they don't really play much defense...sure AI and Melo have the ability to play defense, but the enver Nuggets have taken the place of the allas Mavericks for the team with no D 2/1/2008 9:59:13 AM |

AI plays horrible defense. Really they all play bad defense. Camby is obviously the exception. Though even Camby's man to man defense is fairly mediocre. His gaudy blocks and rebound numbers make people think he's a shut down defender but he's often beat in the pivot. While the blocks come from weak side help. 2/1/2008 11:42:20 AM |

Quote : | "Memphis Grizzlies center Pau Gasol may be joining the Los Angeles Lakers shortly, according to media reports in Los Angeles and Memphis.
The (Memphis) Commercial Appeal reported Friday on its Web site that the Grizzlies have dealt Gasol to the Lakers for Kwame Brown, rookie guard Javaris Crittenton and first-round draft picks in 2008 and 2010.
The Los Angeles Times, on its Web site, reported that the Lakers are in negotiations to send Brown, Crittendon and draft picks to Memphis for Gasol.
It is also believed that the Lakers would need to arrange a sign-and-trade for Aaron McKie, who is not currently playing in NBA, to make the salary cap math work for the deal." |

Quote : | "Sources: Grizz sending Gasol to Lakers for Brown
ESPN.com news services Updated: February 1, 2008, 3:32 PM ET Comment Email Print The Memphis Grizzlies will send Pau Gasol and a future second-round pick to the Lakers for Kwame Brown, Javaris Crittenton, the unofficially retired Aaron McKie , the draft rights to Pau Gasol's brother Marc and future first-round picks in 2008 and 2010, NBA front-office sources told ESPN.com's Marc Stein.
It is believed that the Lakers would need to arrange a sign-and-trade for McKie to make the salary cap math work for the deal. McKie is not currently playing in the NBA but his rights are owneed by the Lakers.
According to The (Memphis) Commercial Appeal, which also reported the trade, the Grizzlies decided to move ahead with trading Gasol because the team felt it could not longer move ahead with him off or on the court -- and that the acquisition of Brown, who is earning $9,075,000 in the last year of his contract, would provide the franchise salary cap relief.
The Commercial Appeal also reported that the Grizzlies are sending Stromile Swift to the New Jersey Nets for center Jason Collins. The Grizzlies and Nets have been discussing that deal for the past week and expect to finalize it on Monday, according to the report.
Swift met with Grizzlies coach Marc Iavaroni and general manager Chris Wallace on Friday, was sent home and did not practice with the team and will not play in Saturday's game against Utah, the newspaper reported." |

Quote : | "Adding Gasol to a frontline that already includes Bynum and Odom will give the Lakers enough length and skill to match-up against any team in the NBA. Gasol will thrive in the triangle as a passer and as a secondary scoring option to Kobe Bryant, particularly because he’s so multi-talented and imaginative. It will be especially interesting to see how Gasol develops in Los Angeles as a shotblocker and rebounder now that he won’t be asked to carry such a substantial load offensively as he was with the Grizzlies.
Financially, Gasol is a huge commitment for the Lakers. He is signed for three more seasons at $15.1 million, $16.5 million and $17.8 million. Odom will come off the books for the Lakers after next season, which will be Bynum's final campaign under his rookie contract before his inevitably huge extension takes effect.
Plainly, the Lakers weren’t going to deal Bynum in any trade, but holding onto Farmar is really the key to this trade from my perspective. Only Brandon Roy (14.1 per 40 FIC) has been a better per minute player than Farmar (13.8 per 40 FIC) amongst NBA sophomores and he’s been an efficient scorer, penetrating into the lane to create scoring opportunities for himself and others.
More than Kidd and certainly more than Jermaine O’Neal, Gasol is the All-Star player that will adequately complement Kobe and will give the Lakers’ title hopes (now extremely legitimate title hopes) more teeth.
Kudos to the Buss family and Mitch Kupchak for having the gall to dig in during Kobe's trade demands and for pulling off this bold move for Gasol.
Grade for Lakers: A-
First and foremost, this is a salary dump, but in Crittenton and the two future first round picks, the Grizzlies will be able to add even more young pieces to their core they are building around Rudy Gay and Mike Conley.
More trades are surely to follow since there is a huge logjam of point guards between Conley, Kyle Lowry, Juan Carlos Navarro and now Crittenton.
Taking on Kwame’s expiring deal addresses their salary cap situation immediately, while Crittenton has very promising talent, so it is hard to imagine a team like Chicago or New Jersey beating the Lakers’ offer.
Crittenton has largely been kept hidden, playing sparingly in just 22 games, but he does have an 8.5 per 40 FIC.
Grade for Grizzlies: B+ " |

This deal looks pretty damn good for the Lakers. I'm happy for Kobe and excited to see what they can do in the playoffs. I wonder how the Lakers salary cap will work out after next year with both Odom and Bynum needing new contracts. Two seasons with Bynum, Odom, Gasol. Should be interesting.
Crittenton is going to be straight up nasty real soon. I hope that he gets some PT in Memphis, too bad we will never get to see him on tv. I Jerry West still the GM in Memphis, or an adviser? I think he retired and is now an adviser to the Lakers I wonder how much he had to do with this trade. 2/1/2008 5:57:50 PM |

Too bad it'll probably be Pistons v. Spurs again. I still think they are the best two teams come playoff time. Try and beat those teams 4 out of 7. Sure, Cleveland did that last year vs. the Pistons, but I think the Cavs will be knocked out in the second round this year. 2/2/2008 3:28:57 AM |

yeah kinda crazy...i think he averages more than 6 boards per game, but they've got a lot of 6'7" - 6'9" type players on that team and he's probably the best shot blocker so that leads to boards for other people..but yeah camby for example had 10 or 11 blocks in a game earlier this season, but he also had like 15 boards 2/5/2008 3:31:11 PM |

i had wade last year and his injuries and lack of outside shooting pissed me off so i didnt draft him this year
and of course the Heat royally suck ass this year
I'd pull the trigger
and how'd you swindle Camby and Yao for Zach and Josh?
just curious also who are some of the top free agents out there? wonder if any of them are better than salmons...juan carlos navarro of memphis is gonna be a nice player the rest of the year without gasol in there in case you dont do the trade but need PG help
