Jags needs to realize that he's going to have to game plan for a different QB in JAX, I reeeeally hope they don't make the BCS, but the onside kick combined with Unmacho Harris's Charmin soft D was a catastrophe for the Hokies, but Beamer just has to beat UVA to get his rematch, and I like Beamer in rematches with Tyrod 10/25/2007 11:28:03 PM |

The team in BC has an abundance of seniors that TOB coached to the level they are. BC fans magically think that the reason they're ranked so high is because of Jags and has nothing to do with what TOB left. Now after the VT choke, they're gonna think they're even better than they really are." |
I agree with all of that, but I dont think ALL of BC's success is just the players left, at the very least Jags has done a good job of not fucking anything up, lots of young coaches would want to make it "their team" and fuck shit up. Jags reminds me of Bielema at Wisconsin: did he inherit some good talent? sure. But does that ALSO mean he cant coach? of course not, and hes proved that since.

We'll find out how good he is next year when ryan and the rest of the 5th year seniors are gone. I'd love to see them fall flat on their faces. 10/25/2007 11:33:07 PM |

Ryan calls all his plays in the 2 minute drill, Jags did nothing except what I would describe as a lunatic portraying "the wheels on the bus" in a game of "gestures."
Jags has a huge abundance of senior leadership, next season, he'll have to di a lot more than stya out of the way, after all, he's only the head coach

sigh.
You are right, head coaches do NOTHING ELSE aside call plays during the game, thats it. They dont do shit during the week, they dont do drills, they dont do film sessions with the team (including QB even!) etc.

Quote : | "the keys jinglin at 11 min left sold me on this loss" |
VT fans jingle their keys on every 3rd down to help make even more noise, which is why their noise level is on par with some SEC stadiums that have 80,000+ fans yelling but shaking pom poms rather than clapping, stomping on the bleachers, or shaking their keys like the way VT and even State fans do. By tradition they call it a "key" play.
I just felt like I watched a Maryland/State game, with VT playing the role of NC State and BC playing the role of Maryland. VT/State is winning the game for most of it, but BC/Maryland has some lucky breaks toward the end and pulls something out of their ass to win it by a close margin. 10/25/2007 11:58:14 PM |

while i agree with this, BC still has something absurd like 12 or 15 5th. year seniors. its really hard to fuck that up esp. w/ Steve Logan on your side of the field.
what burns me up about Jags is that he hasnt gave TOB much to any credit at all for this team. Even recently he was bascially saying this success is all due to him and his staff. 10/26/2007 9:14:06 AM |

If you are Bud Foster, and find yourself up 10-0 in the fourth quarter having shut down Matt Ryan and the BC offense with aggressive pressure defense, what do you do? Obviously drop into a soft prevent defense, and see if Matt Ryan can sit in the pocket and hit open receivers. 10/26/2007 9:57:46 AM |

You tell me what Jags did to put his team in position to win for the first 57 minutes of the game??? Ryan is the reason, not Jags, I don't care how many film sessions Jags watched or how many team meetings he facilitated, but next year, it'll be more clear

Quote : | "more likely its a deep seeded jealousy that State is doing shitty with their ex-coach" |
Not really... for me at least. It's a bunch of factors.
1) Their fans elitist attitude about their sports programs. It was insufferable to listen to a team that started their last year in the Big East at 9-0 and with a win over UConn, claim they had a better program than my 1b team after we beat them SIXTEEN straight games (yes SIXTEEN)! Note: In classic BC style they choked down the stretch, losing 3 of the last 5 and settled in a tie for the conference reg season w/ UConn.
2) The belittlement of TOB and his accomplishments there. Even State fans had the ability to recognize that Chuck did make many positive contributions in his time here at State, even though he clearly wasn't the answer going forward. BC fans REFUSE to even hint at the possibility that this years team's success, should at least in part, be attributed to TOB.
3) They are just so damn easy to make fun of considering their "place" in the Boston sports scene.
4) Their air of superiority over thinking the ACC selected them because of their athletic programs and not the holf of the Boston TV market. Now this is a little dicey, because I do admit that it turned out that BC has been the best of the new teams across all sports... but that was NOT Swofford's attention and no one can tell me otherwise.
*** As an aside, I really do like Matt Ryan. He seems like a good guy and I can respect the hell out of him putting in his time under the radar and developing into a great QB. That said, I hope his teams get their heads bashed in the last 5 games of the year...10/26/2007 11:31:44 AM |

I have been to Boston a number of times in the past couple of years, it's a great fun city. Well I was in Boston around the time of the Car Care Bowl last year, and my friends and I went to a bar (great bar too, like $1.50 pints ) and one of the games on the TVs was the bowl game. Well I was sitting there watching the game and began to notice that nearly everyone in that bar was pulling against BC. I was like wtf? I asked these two guys that went to school in Boston that my friend knew why it seemed like everyone there was pulling against BC. They said that a lot of people in Boston hate BC b/c their students and alum feel like they are better than everyone else there, even people that went to Harvard. So even in their own city they have a large contigency that hate them. Also when State fans point out that they don't fill up their stadium and aren't very supportive, it's not like we made it up. For example take this past years game. You'd think that the stadium would be sold out to see the best BC team in 65 years stick it to their old coach. Nope, there were empty seats all up in the upper decks. Then there was the game in 05 at their place. Senior night with one of their best players ever (Kiwanuka) playing in his last home game, the team is still doing great and still has a chance at winning the division. You'd think sold out right? Nope again. I like Alumni Stadium. It's a nice place to take in a game, but Carter-Finley it is not, by a wide margin too. So fuck BC's fans and their jackass of a coach. Matt Ryan's ok though, he continues to praise TOB.

^ Also, the college sport that matters in that region is hockey. Think of the teams in and around Boston that play BC every year. First off you have Harvard, BU and Northeastern (hardly small schools) that play annually in the Beanpot. That is like the Big Four in college basketball to a degree. You simply don't root for one of the other three in ANY sport *. Then you have the small D-1 hockey schools in New England who also HATE BC. The Merrimack, UNH, Maine and UM-Lowell's. None of those grads would pull for BC. Boston is a HUGE college town and a very small % of them are BC grads. I would say there are far more BC "haters" than BC fans in the area. Not even really close as I believe BC is the smallest of those 4 schools..
* Unless you are like a bunch of our faggotass fans who root for Duke too. Fuck all of you. 10/26/2007 11:53:38 AM |

From reading other blog sites I seen that Jags said that he "is glad that they didn't go to Atlanta because there is nothing to do" in reference to the Chick-Fil-a Peach bowl. as we all know the Peach bowl is nowhere near as prestigious as the Champs Sports Bowl 12/28/2007 9:00:56 PM |
