I was out with a friend the other night and on the way into the bar she told me that i was not to make eyecontact with a guy unless i was willing to fuck him. She said she knew was trying to be nice, but that it wasn't nice, because if i look at a guy then they get the impression that im interested, and might actually do them.

is this accurate?

there is interested eye contact, neutral eye contact, and oh-shit-I-didn't-mean-to-look-at-you eye contact

I have a bad habit at looking at everyone that walks by me on campus. I'm pretty blind when I'm not wearing my glasses in between classes so I end up looking at people to make sure that if it's someone I know I don't straight up ignore them if they wave or something.

well, if you *just* look at them, that's one thing--but if you look, smile, and then when they walk over have a prolonged conversation...but most people in bars are hyper-aware of those kinds of things and if they seem the least bit interested they probably are and will assume that you are as well
