if the rules are changing without the users knowing

there's bedlam and unneeded overhead on the mods

if the rules have changed, then proclaim the new set

^SFW threads that involve "discuss news and life" type stuff. It may say "other fun stuff" in the description, but all that stuff created in The Lounge will immediately get moved into Chit Chat, where it is immediately raped and pillaged.

The Lounge works really well for what it is supposed to be. Lowering the criteria for threads in the Lounge would completely change that. Chit-Chat works well for what it is . . . except for all the random people who post illicit material for no reason. That is our bottleneck. That is what needs tweaking.

I have been on here longer than almost everyone in this thread. I have never ever seen anything that ever declared that Chit Chat was automatically deemed NSFW. If it was automatically NSFW then what is the purpose of having users put NSFW in the title of threads. That is illogical.

Where do you draw the line between threads that belong in chit-chat or the lounge. There are a lot of "fun" threads already made and can be made in the future that belong in CC. Are these topics now open to the NSFW material? I am very careful when I come to this site and look at Chit Chat at work. If I see a thread labeled as NSFW i stay away from it. I don't expect to open up a thread(in CC) that should be SFW and have all of these random porn images pop-up.

Congratulations even though you did not want to, you just made "Chit-Chat" the Red-Light District for this site and I thought that we(TWW) didn't want to be like PECU et. al. And since you want Chit-Chat to be our version of a "Red-Light District" then why not go ahead and create a different section.

I have seen mods come and go and I have only seen 1 or 2 fair mods. At times I feel like the mods rule as if this is a popularity contest. When I see something that is messed up I don't even say anything because I know more than likely nothing will happen to the user or to the post so why bother.

Even though the CC is now described as "possibly NSFW" it would be in the better interest for the TWW community that if a thread is not labeled as NSFW to keep it that way. If that cannot happen then a mod needs to start changing thread titles when a thread goes from SFW to NSFW.

It has been known since Chit Chat was developed that if you want decent threads, go to The Lounge or The Soap Box. This site doesnt need to get any closer to statesfanlite....it seems to be going that way....

This was at least two or three of the major purges ago. Yes, it was really that long ago. I know, because so many people have been whiny for so long, and I looked many times for that thread, so that I could link them to the mod's own original words, instead of waiting for him to show up in FF to confirm.

No, it wasn't a sticky (clearly), and no, it wasn't at the top of CC every damn day so that infrequent CC posters/visitors would see it, but don't you think the prevailing atmosphere of NSFWishness for so long, with a hands-off attitude from not one, but two mods, should have clued you in? If CC weren't at least somewhat assumed NSFWish, things wouldn't have developed to where they are now. The clarification that we can, indeed, do whatever the hell we want in untagged threads of others moved such behavior from the realm of uncertainty (in terms of what's allowed) into what can be considered protected games (and yeah, it rather is a game. It's amusing seeing some of you get so wrought up over some distasteful JPGs. If someone ever DID actually piss in your wheaties, I imagine you'd be wetting your pants, sucking your thumb, and moaning for your mommy.)

Now, that's not "automatically deemed" NSFW, but it's awfully damn close.

I can almost guarantee that wasn't CC's original potential. CC was originally made to take less serious threads out of the Lounge and put them in their own place so that way readers wouldn't have to read through all of the crap in the lounge to find decent threads.

Now in CC we have less serious threads that should be SFW(and be kept that way) and threads that are NSFW.

Well if a person doesn't put NSFW in the thread title don't you think the original intent of the thread is automatically SFW? And if so, then that thread should be kept SFW?

Like I said before, a long time ago there was a line that was drawn to say what belonged in the lounge and what belonged in CC. Now in CC there is another line that has to be drawn to say which threads can become NSFW and which threads should be left alone.

By saying the monorail cat thread is protected because the mod likes the thread personally is favortism. What about us users that think a thread should be protected? We don't have any say in it. Who decides that a thread is protected??

I will say that being a fair moderator is very hard to do and I am not bashing gunzz for any decisions he makes. I am just trying to put some rational reasoning out there for others to think about.

And, had certain users not complained, there would have been a LOT less NSFW surprises in threads (and not nearly as nasty, either). As for the argument that folks don't want to see, for example, a girl shitting...if things change, it won't be a great surprise to see more of that sort of stuff in threads that are, so far, pretty damn good (redhead, boobs, etc).

Yes but it is the subjectivity of the mods that is in question. If I wanted I could mess up threads such as the Elise Appreciation Thread or others but I don't because I have restraint and the maturity that some people don't exhibit.

Dunno if you've noticed, but I, and the other person in this thread who did what I did (as far as NSFW postings) after the whining started have left long-running threads like that only, and pretty much any non-shitty thread, as well.

If you don't like what CC is now, don't use it. If you need a reminder of how often things are changed around, take a moment and scan the pages of FF.

apparently you care about this more than I because you have at least twice as many if not three times the number of posts in this thread than I do.

It isn't like it is 1000 people doing this crap in CC, it is only a handful. It is sad how this place caters to a handful of users on here.

Hopefully everyone will eventually ween themselves away from this place. I don't even log in anymore unless I want to make a post. When I do come here it is now to read stuff in entertainment and sports talk.

My whole purpose of making the posts I did in this thread is to try to say what some users won't. But this is TWW and I guess the few of us that wants to keep this place semi-decent are talking to a brick wall.
