For some reason SECU has blocked mint.com from accessing my account info. They've also been having issues with FIA. It's getting pretty annoying.

It might just be temporary. Sometimes mine won't connect to SECU one day but then it fixes itself. Mine worked when I checked like an hour ago.

I've got tons of accounts on this thing(3 checking (at 3 diff banks no less), 2 savings, 1 money market, 1 CD, 3 brokerage, company 401k, mortgage loan, 4 student loans). The only thing that gives me trouble is my company's 401k. Something has been really screwy with that recently. Obviously I do have the occasional problem refreshing something but it is usually fixed the next time I try.

It did the same thing for my "business account"
You can tell it to ignore the duplicate account(s)

Mint sucks for anything off shore. I gave up on them last year after it repeatedly failed to incorporate either our Swiss or Cayman accounts.

If you're talking about Fidelity NetBenefits, I had the same problem until I deleted the account and added it back under Fidelity Investments. It's been working fine ever since.

Maybe its the bank I use. Its BB&T. It hasnt failed on my credit card counts, student loans, or anything else for that matter. Just the bank account.

I logged into today to see 'pending' transactions at the top going all the way back to August of last year. Once I started investigating, I saw that it had 'added' more BB&T accounts. Of course, they have the exact same account number.

If you have no troubles, its great. Otherwise, it blows.

^I've had to go "re-enter login info" for my BB&T accounts two or three times over the past year. It's because BB&T has been slowly overhauling their authentication and identity management stuff, and everytime they rev it, all the web services that react to it have to react.

If you just go reenter your login info and let it sync, it should fix it

I recently added my 401(k), money market and Roth IRA along side my checking account. It's nice having it all right there as well as a handy budgeting tool. I've been telling everyone I can to use it.

They also have a free app for your iPhone!

Mint is worthless bullshit if you have SECU. Finally got tired of their just dead wrong information and fearmongering emails and quit.

well, between my bank and a piece of software that's purported to "simplify" my life, I know which one I ditched.

the third time my wife called and said "Why did Mint just say we haven't paid our credit card bill and it's past due!" and I had paid it three weeks prior via a direct transfer that should have easily been picked up I was done.

not to be rude but why didn't you just turn bill reminders off in mint? If you actually handle paying your bills via e-bills or electronically through your bank, you don't need bill reminders anyway. I use it to track actual transactions and as a way to track all the money in all of my accounts at once.

There is no reason to ditch one or the other as they have different purposes. Most things people blame Mint for can usually be traced back to something on the server side of the bank they are having problems with or a simple setting they don't look for. I keep bill reminders off because I have e-bills through my checking account at Suntrust.

I don't think this was the case for you but if the bill was just set-up but not actually paid yet, Mint won't know that since Mint only tracks transactions. This is why I turn off bill reminders within Mint. When I get a bill from Suntrust, I automatically set it up to pay, but the due date isn't usually for like 30 days out so Mint would tell me I hadn't paid it up until the date it was due because the actual transaction hadn't cleared yet. That's why I turned it off. I'm not saying the site is perfect, but most the stuff I see people blame on Mint really isn't their fault.

It's like when I see people blame crappy software or printer problems on Microsoft/Windows when in actuality it was probably the crappy drivers on the $20 printer they got at office max.

I had to stop using it too because of constant problems with my SECU account. I actually got to talk to someone at the bank about it who said they were aware of the problems but had the position of only supporting their online banking (i.e. they are probably not going to spend a lot of effort to make things play nice with mint). the most common problem i had was mint not being able to log-in to my account despite me not having changed any of my security questions/answers and the only solution i ever found was to remove the secu account and re-add it. i finally just got tired and gave up.

also annoying not having anything beyond my savings and checking from secu show up on mint

maybe things have changed in the past few months, i'd love it if it would work again

I've had that issue with other accounts before when my security questions/answers in mint weren't in the same order as they were on the other website. Usually I resolved the problem, by directly logging into the website and answering the security question so it stopped prompting mint for it behind the scenes.

^^Interesting, I have SECU and have never had a problem with Mint. Well, it couldn't see my mortgage for a long time, but they finally fixed that about two weeks ago.

I've been having issues on and off with First Citizens, but seeing as how I just use it as a funnel account for USAA these days, it doesn't really bother me.

haha yeah. I log in every day. Unless I need to actually DO something in an account (transfer money, pay a bill, view a statement etc.) then I don't even visit my bank or credit card sites hardly. Since all my accounts work correctly on mint I just log in there for a one-stop place to check up on stuff. For the most part my transfers into different accounts or investments are automated so I just keep tabs to make sure nothing is out of the ordinary.

I have 2 different Citi credit cards and has 2 different logins for them. Anybody know how to get Mint to differentiate between the two? I tried to add the 2nd account, but it keeps giving an error about login.

That's weird you have different login. I have 3 cards with Chase, and they all use the same login. You should be able to create a duplicate account and use the different login information for the second account.

I manually set all my budgets. The default stuff that is there is not really useful, but the budgets on mint can be very useful if you go in and set them up once (And adjust once a year or when there are large changes in your finances).

For me, I set up the obvious budgets for all of the stuff I always spend money on each month: mortgage, utilities, Roth IRA, gas, groceries, restaurants/dining, home improvement, and college loans. I then have an Entertainment category that makes up movies, books, going out with friends etc. I manually change the categories when I spend stuff to fall under entertainment. For example, I edit any bar tabs to fall under Entertainment. Some people might not like that, but it doesn't bother me to not be able to look back and chart my alcohol purchases over the course of the year. It makes much more sense to me to push it into Entertainment.

I have a very well defined set of ins and outs this way each month and we generally spend the same amount on a regular basis. I used to just do it in a spreadsheet before Mint (never tried Money or Quicken) but Mint has really made it easier than before even. If fixing/changing some default categories for transactions each month is the hardest thing you have to do to balance a budget, it's pretty nice

It is a default budget, and actually a useful one, you can click one thing and see how much you have spent during a certain time period on fast food.

I need to stop hitting the drive throughs and learn to make some sandwiches.

I have a restaurant, fast food and grocery budget just to help keep them all separated. Ideally, I want my grocery budget to be the highest of the three as that is generally an indicator of healthier eating choices for that month.
