Since no one reads the last post, is this shit going to be based on taxable income, gross, etc. Whether or not my 401k contribution gets counted would put me over the edge 3/20/2020 10:31:57 PM

^^^LOL, this isn’t UBI, this is an economic stimulus. That link is so stupid. I primarily support things that end up getting tied to unemployment, not anything universal.

This “stimulus” is so dumb. And a month from now what? People short on money, and then what? 1000 buys us another month. For some. If that. 3/21/2020 1:41:17 AM

Rural South Carolina. Mortgage paid off. Now I'm not spending much on gasoline or daily lunch either. I only have to pay power bill, water bill (minimum), and internet bill. Insurance and property taxes are low and paid annually in the fall. 3/21/2020 9:43:06 AM

Looks like it's gonna be based on 2018 tax filings.
Not sure how it'll work if you've gotten married since then, or had a kid since then, or whatever. 3/22/2020 2:42:49 PM

I'm wondering how it will be delivered and whether there is any opportunity to update information. If they try to use the routing and account numbers from my 2018 return for direct deposit, those are no longer valid. 3/22/2020 5:18:11 PM

Thanks. They've since clarified that they will use your 2019 banking info and AGI if you've already filed in 2019, which I have. So, should be good. However, I think this drops my stimulus amount because of a higher AGI in 2019 due to a one-time payment. Oh well. One problem solved, and another minor inconvenience created. 3/27/2020 8:35:40 AM

If you filed last year, and are under the income cap, you should be fine.

^^I think I posted that prior to it coming out that ICs would be covered under this bill. But yeah, I paid taxes last year and hopefully will be able to get something from this. 3/29/2020 10:36:06 PM

Uh, yeh, that's how cash flow works, especially for poor people. I realize you've never had to, nor thought about those who have to, live check-to-check, but this is daily life for them.
I don't understand people like you. You fail to realize that this economy depends, runs on poor and middle class people. If they don't have money to spend, then consumerism drops to essentially 0. I know you and your ilk like to cuck for the rich, but they aren't driving the economy. Give people that will spend the money stimulus, and that money keeps circulating through the economy. Poor people do a better job of this than any other economic group.

Given that this rebate will likely be collected from this year's tax returns, is there any benefit to cashing the check, if still employed?
I suppose that it would be beneficial to have the extra money in a savings account, in the event that I become unemployed before the economy returns to normal. 3/30/2020 10:25:13 AM

Yea I'm planning to put it in my savings at least for now. Alternately I might use it to pay off a couple things and cut some of my required monthly expenses back just in case. 3/30/2020 11:01:24 AM
