The quest in question was bugged and has been fixed. You two are both correct.
It's basically my fault that this turned into a WoW thread. Dyne suggested that Blizzard's release schedule was influenced by the amount of money they're making on WoW. I still maintain that Blizzard has a history and a reputation of releasing software when they're fucking ready to. 5/28/2009 1:16:07 PM |

Yeah, I think people would continue to play WOW regardless and I'd think that a company would rather have guaranteed millions now than sitting on a finished product waiting on guaranteed millions in the future. Money now > money in the future. 5/28/2009 5:53:43 PM |

As far as the color palette of the new trailers vs the old greys and browns, I am going to go with the new colors. The one thing they will need to pull off is the mood of the dungeons. Diablo 1, in particular, always felt that you were surrounded because of how dark it was.
If they can add the visually stunning colors and maintain the foreboding nature of the game I will be impressed.
I know the current videos have the players in pseudo god mode, but I hope to hell its harder than just blitzing through the game.
One of the funnest moments I had was the first level in almost the first room in the cathedral in Diablo 1. There was a unique orc and he was a son of a bitch to kill at level 1. And you had to really think about what you were doing to get him down. Just having moments like that is all I ask.
I do not want to kill 10,000 monsters all in 1 hit. Make me sweat a little. 5/28/2009 6:19:46 PM |

The point isn't that they're "sitting on a finished product" but that they're in no rush to get a new game out the door. Because they're continually raking in cash from WoW, they can take as long as they please on developing the Starcraft and Diablo franchises.
You see the opposite position frequently these days, where companies rush out unfinished/bug-ridden games just because publishers want the money right away.5/28/2009 6:39:15 PM |

^^Playing Diablo II (single player) without turning on /players 7 (or a similar number) is basically god mode... With /players 1 on everything dies in one hit, it's insanely easy. 5/28/2009 6:53:04 PM |

If they release the games at the same time, less people will be able to buy both games at their retail value simultaneously, and the prices of both games will decrease in value at the same rate in time as well. By simply offsetting their releases, they get maximum profit exposure. Blizzard is renowned for holding onto games until they are deemed polished, it's too hard to tell honestly whether or not they are doing it to allow WoW's market presence to expand further. Using this logic, once WoW sales and account renewals begin to slide quickly, we should expect at least one release rather soon afterwards? So, one way to help get these games released is to quit WoW and cancel your accounts in a mass exodus. Go forth, and get your life back, so that you may willingly throw it away again to Diablo III and Starcraft II at a later date, lol.

Nah, this is just how long Blizzard takes to release games. Just look at their previous history of game announced to game released. We should be happy that they are working on at least 4 games at the same time right now. 5/29/2009 7:54:11 PM |

anyways, played all 4 of the classes yesterday. i enjoyed that monk class a fair amount, and the witch doctor is very fun.... just hurling those little grenade type deals non-stop.
barb seemed kind of boring without whirlwind (characters were pre-made at like level 12) and the jumping. 8/23/2009 2:02:40 AM |

I wish I could just tune out all the buzz for Blizzard games. Every time they release a new video or tidbit, the game press goes nuts. Even before Blizz-con, every press site had at least one link to their games on the front page.
Then again what else is there on PC gaming radar... 8/25/2009 1:10:48 PM |

it sucks that it's going to be so long before it comes out, the game is amazing, even basically only playing 1 level/map... the addiction factor kicked right into gear like it did for D2. 8/25/2009 7:34:18 PM |

The final Class to be reveled in the core game is the Demon Hunter. Basically, its a super-charged Amazon fro Diablo 2 (sure it probably more than just that but its just gives you a general idea)! Here is almost 19 mins of gameplay footage

This game is pretty dang fun. Its dark, at least the section I played, and it really gives a good visceral feedback of destroying shit.
Your traveling merchants leveling up with you is going to be badass and the way they incorporate the story line while you are still playing definitely keeps the game flow going.
Most of this I got from various panels at blizzcon. That Diablo 3 unicorn image, they said, was actually created by one of the D3 artists who was there. I actually won an original drawing of a fallen that he did live on stage. 10/24/2010 11:55:44 AM |

i really hope they don't go all out on these arenas they were talking about.
diablo is a dungeon crawler, thats what made it fun. pvp was only a minor part of the game, and it was very informal / used for griefing only which was good for laughs.
Leave the competitive pvp for sc & wow. 10/25/2010 11:28:29 AM |

Hehe, I loved the old cheesy pvp days of D2. I was always in a party with a friend; I was a necro and my friend was an amazon, whenever someone joined our channel, we'd just wait for them outside, I'd bone wall them and he'd just use the multi arrow shot. 10/25/2010 12:15:10 PM |
