Ah, yes the valve operation is funky, but is does seem like a good idea in that the movement is precise in both directions of travel.

To all you new riders, Wear and buy some damned gear. I dont care how freaking hot it is, how your just goign aroudn the corner, how its cumbersome.

You want protection when you get reamed by a F150

^^ Yeah it's amazing how many people I've seen recently riding without gear. It seems like nobody wears it.

I don't get on a bike without it.

2000 ninja 250, painted bright white with blue and a little green pearl. Is very pretty, I need to take pics. Plan is blue and green pinstripe, but I need to decide on width/pattern/etc. Hope I can but my other once back at insurance auction, was a 2003 that was blue and yellow but it was going to be red with 248r stickers.

I'm a gear whore. 3 jackets, 2 pants, at least a half dozen pairs of gloves, etc. Helps that I get it on clearance, otherwise I'd be living on the street.

I have heard from owners that the rc51 is THE most uncomfortable bike ever.

When someone that owns one says that you know it's bad. Guy couldn't ride it for more than 40 mins without stopping, and he was late 30s and in shape.

Yeah, I'm sure an RC51 would not be bad for some people but I like to fill up the tank and ride until the light comes on sometimes so I couldn't own one.

The best protection against that F150 is not pulling right in front of it.

there aren't enough rolly eyes in the world

wear your fucking gear, kids. it isn't a superman suit, but it works really, really well if it's on your body and not on the shelf at a store or your house.

i admit, i used to ride from my house to carmichael gym in just shorts and t-shirt, but i lived on hillsborough st. it was less than a mile, and i prob never got about 35 mph most times. it would've sucked bad if i'd wrecked, but i was willing to roll the dice on that, at least at the time.

other than that, it was pretty much a minimum of jeans/leather jacket/gloves...and full roadrace gear if i was going out for a ride (as opposed to just going somewhere in town).

^^After your riding record, It's not really a surprise that you are pretty serious about proper gear.

But, it's also not really a surprise you refuse to address the root problem: causing accidents.

I have one and will attest to this. I rode from asheville to raleigh and couldn't walk when I got off. The rear sets and clips are just too aggressive to be comfortable for anyone above like 5'6". Mine is almost all back together. The repsol paint's gonna be so hot. If anyone knows where to get orange wheel paint lemme know.

Thanks for chiming in 'crim... any other 6'ers in here want to chime in and let me know of a bike that drops somewhere between cruiser and sport bike (comfy but fun)... I really like VFRs but they're sooo effing heavy...

i'm thinking the SV is pretty much where i'm stuck... not to mention even an sv 1000 gets better mileage than an interceptor 800 from what i've read.

^^^ i don't ride in a manner likely to cause a wreck around other people. actually, i'm less aggressive all around on a bike than i was before i wrecked a few times, though I still get after it some when i ride (haven't ridden much lately, though).

still, i've had a bunch of very close calls that were 100% the fault of cagers (I've gone down the road on the shoulder...hell, I've braked so hard on Western Blvd that I had the back tire 2 feet of the ground going 50 mph). For this reason, you should be a gear nazi even if you aren't planning on riding very hard.

Speed triple and the 675 are really comfy, atleast for me. I could ride hours without any ill effects. The honda f4i's are pretty comfy as well and the vfr is damn well close to a nice fit.

So, my rear tire exploded Tuesday afternoon. I tracked down a Dunlop 130/90-16 in Walkertown (about 20 minutes away) for a reasonable price. I took in the wheel this afternoon to find out that a tube had to be ordered. Turns out that the stem holes on the rims of older CBs are larger than those made today.

Awesome!

i got a motorcycle...i bought a brand new 2005 suzuki gz250 back in July for cruising around Hartsville and the surrounding country roads. I got a great deal on it cause it is an older model year and dealer wanted it out of his inventory. I was going to get a small used one to learn on, but I couldn't pass up the deal. I have a 1000 miles on it already, taking MSF course next week. Will probably sell and move up to like a suzuki M50/Kawasaki Vulcan 900 or equivalently sized bike towards the end of the year. So if any of you want to buy a 250 towards the end of the year...

Last night was one of the scariest rides that I have ever had. Riding to work in 25kt gusts is no joke especially with wet roads. I will be happy when I make it home this morning.

Maybe you read the motorcycle thread in the garage, but I'm in need of a new chain/sprocket combo. I can get all three on BikeBandit for pretty cheap, $73 shipped, but I'd rather not wait a week+ for this shit to arrive. What are the odds that a local shop would have this stuff in stock? I'm looking for pretty standard gear: 350-100 chain, 37T rear sprocket, 17T front. Every shop within reasonable distance is closed on Mondays, I'll be calling around tomorrow but I'm urgent in my need for info.
