yeah, i like catfishing during day and night.

i just can't get into bass fishing like i can saltwater fishing. i'm not sure why. one thing about saltwater fishing is you're never exactly sure what you're gonna catch. if you go bass fishing and they're not biting, you don't really have any other options. if i go trout fishing and can't find a bite, i can go target drum or flounder or rock, etc.

Neuse River Rat

when i was a little, whenever i tried to say "cigarette," it came out as "river rat." my grandaddy thought it was funny and called me "River Rat" all the time. As a Goldsboro native, i enjoy fishing the Neuse River (i've fished it from Goldsboro to the mouth at the Pamlico Sound, actually), so i combined it all and liked it.

there are several types of rodents that live near water like rivers, muskrats, for example.

that's all i got.

i have a melting pot and make my own egg weights and jig heads. i'll try to remember to bring you some egg weights for catfishing. they don't really cost me anything.

yeah i got the rod/reel...usually use the split shots for bream fishing, but you can use them for catfishing ok...was told for catfishing you are supposed to put the weight on, put on a swivel, and then put on like another 18 or so inches of line and then the hook

exactly. it's called a carolina rig. you should use an egg sinker on top of the swivel joining the main line to the leader. that way when the fish picks it up and starts to move with it, he doesn't feel the weight because it's sliding through the weight, which is sitting on the bottom. trust me, it worked on the 27 lber in my gallery haha.

learn to tie a palomar. google that shit. quick and easy to tie. works with mono, fluro, and braid.

i love that thing. when i'm surf fishing at night and it's pitch black, i can tie them without looking.

without googling yet, i do the one where you make a lope, put the end through the loop, dont close it all the way though...you then take the end, wrap it around line like 3 times, then take it through the original loop hole you made, and tighten it up...kinda hard to word it but maybe you know which one i'm talking about

palomar is where you double the line, run it through the eye, tie an overhand with the doubled line, and run the hook/swivel/lure through the loop before cinching down the overhand.

i also do a weird knot that i've never seen anyone but my dad and me tie. you run the tag through the eye, run it back up parallel to the main line, wrap the tag around both lines while holding a loop at the top. wrap it 5/6/7 times depending on line diameter and run the tag through the loop you were holding and cinch it down. i can tie that one with my eyes closed too.

the most important thing to remember is to wet all knots with spit before you cinch them down. otherwise it does like a ribbon when you curly-cue it with some scissors and it is significantly weakened.
