my manager is obsessed with twitter i have an account but can't find much to use it for right now

i usually post tweets about sporting events and new tv shows / movies / music and that's about it

i need to find some interesting people to follow

right now i'm only following people at work

most people just want everyone to know what they are doing(even though we don't give a shit) so they'll use facebook for that

It only gets worse when you start making a lot of local twitter friends. I love it!

You get out what you put into it. It really works well when you follow more than forty or fifty people. I pretty much only add people I "know" and most of them are local.

I've also been to TWO tweetups this year and it's really fun!

Haha, a constant stream of both. The last two have had a lot of free food and free beer, plus a raffle. I won a couple things at the last one.

The two I've been to had about 100 tweeple (see what I did there?).

i think twitter encourages people to post as many useful thoughts as they can think of throughout the day - plus you can follow people you don't even fucking know as long as you have a common interest i suppose

plus you can search twitter and see what everyone(not just your friends) is saying about a new album or show etc

i try to refrain from updating my facebook status more than once a day (really way less than that) - people who update all the time drive me crazy

you can actually link your twitter to your facebook so whatever you say on twitter updates your facebook status

I've found Twitter to be incredibly useful. It's helping me drive local traffic to my blog (http://madisonsflowers.com) and it's got a very different culture from facebook. My friends on twitter are much more diverse.

I've also been going to the meetup events for local tweeters and bloggers, and it adds a new dimension to the service. 75% of the people I follow are people I know in real life or "know" from places like tdub.

For me, it's all about a local connection.
