i found my job at the usajobs site, my dad suggested looking for something in government and I did a search and found that site.

one bad thing is it is not like an application, you usually have to answer 4 or 5 questions (page long each) and then some other forms to go along with it. It is pretty time consuming.

yes, opm sucks in that way, but it does weed out the lazy people / resume spammers

^^^ not trying to be a downer here, but i was canned from a company with tons of work and only a couple people to do it. while having a strong work ethic is certainly important, when it comes down to it, you could be let go despite being such a good worker.

it sucks, and i hope it does not happen to you.

yeah, that is what was making me feel as if we're going to be secure. plus one of our engineers is pregnant right now and we'll need to make up her work. but, given your situation, i no longer feel as secure as i once did. luckily i have some money in the bank for the time being.

Update:
today i talked to a headhunter to try and find quick work. they don't have anything
but that can change monday, tuesday, whenever.

while i was in there i got a call back from the company in cary that told me they were going to make me an offer on monday.
they previously offered me a job in indianapolis (with rolls royce i've come to find out) which i declined.

so i guess monday is the day.
