^^ The entire point of free speech is to promote the dissent of popular opinion. But, this goes far, far beyond dissent of popular opinion. This touches on issues of basic rights to life and liberty. When your speech infringes on another person's rights that are universally accepted as being correct, it becomes hate speech... which is what this is.

Unless your opinion is that niggers should be shot in the head and hung from nooses. Is that what you are fighting for the right to say? There is a clear difference between this and the right someone has to burn the flag or something. One directly affects other peoples. In AUG2001, my freshman year at NCSU... Pre-9/11, the freedom of expresion tunnel was a war zone between Isreali and Palastinian syudents. There was a butt ton of hate messages and threats. Nothing was done, nobody worried about the "safety" of those minority groups on campus. Then 9/11 happened and it faded away quickly.

Looking back and that situation and this one, I see that the above situation presented the most danger to students on campus, I honestly thought at the time and even now that there would be a beating or at least vandalism. In this current situation, I feel it would not come to campus wide racism and beatings/breaking of laws. To the NCAAP, its 2008, hate crimes beyond verbal or vandalism are localized and not wide spread. In previous decades, there was a need for the NCAAP, today, Im not so sure. Your presence escaltes this incident, thus making it a matter far worse than it was. In my risk assesment, it is not worth the escalation, it should be handled on the smallest scale possible. Keep free expresion, end racism
