The rest was so boring that I nodded off a few times. 9/2/2009 12:31:07 PM |

I thought it was average and I usually like Tarantino movies. Maybe my expectations were too high or something, I dunno. It didn't even come close to Reservoir Dogs or Pulp Fiction, in my opinion. Waltz was great though, he was pretty much the entire movie.
My main problem was with how Shosanna got killed... I still don't see any way she'd feel any kind of remorse for killing him, especially as she had already set a plan in motion to kill hundreds of people and she just got done watching a movie about the dude killing hundreds himself. Not to mention, he had just forced his way into the room after she told him no multiple times... what redeeming qualities did he have that would make her act the way she did? Maybe some of you who really get Tarantino and really loved the movie can help me out. 9/7/2009 8:21:18 PM |

^ she didn't have any sort of remorse for him. i'm sure the first time anyone kills it's more than an explainable kind of emotion. also, the bastArd almost ruined the whole thing so she was checking the evidence in the error of her ways. 9/7/2009 9:13:48 PM |

the way she looked at him on screen and then looked at him on the ground and reached out to him made it look like remorse to me, oh well 9/8/2009 7:32:26 AM |

That's what I liked about him.. and I just loved the part where he was like "knocked it out of Fenway Park!!!" (or whatever he said) and where he just went crazy on Hitler
To each his own I guess.

quentin tried to make a quasi-realistic/slapstick war movie
only dirty dozen could pull that off
this movie was too fucked up because of the gore and it left me feeling slighty offended

by that time I was ing too hard to enjoy whatever taratino was trying to exhibit with that scene, the two romances dying.
I was happy to see the place burn down because the plot building is exhausting in this movie to say the least 12/4/2009 8:54:20 PM |

They made tons of war movies like that back in the day.
The Dirty Dozen was just the last big one before some idiots decided that all World War II flicks should be somber and depressing reflections on the horrors of war.12/5/2009 4:27:21 PM |

I'm not really a Tarantino fan (other than PF, I guess), but I loved this.
I almost think that this being set in a time period where his usual string of pop culture references won't work lets his other strengths as a filmmaker shine. 12/24/2009 3:51:28 PM |

I just saw it a few days ago and give it a 9/10 I went in with zero expectations and no knowledge whatsoever of the plot. I watched it because of the "top 10 movies of 2009" thread.
I did not like Brad Pitt's awful southern accent, but I suppose his character was just over-the-top like that.
I just love hearing all the different languages and how some of the actors can switch seamlessly between them. That alone made up a huge part of my movie enjoyment. I don't know if that's just normal over there in Europe, but Diane Kruger (Hammersmark or, as I'll always refer to her, Helen of Troy) gained a million cool points in my book being fluent in German and English (apparently French too). That's on top of having liked her in the first place.
I'm not a fan of gorey action or anything, but I do think the movie could have used some basterd battle scenes.
I liked Chapter 1 was done: *seeing the interrogation, the bluff, the family snitched out, the distress.. not the old "i'm not telling you anything and you'll just have to kill us all!" BS. *not ending in a predictable gore-fest with the father and daughters killed for the hell of it *not ending with a 300-yard bullseye from a pistol 1/2/2010 8:57:57 PM |

i just saw this and it was amazing, a real movie for once i cant believe this came from tarantino, its is not his style, the jew hunter and the nazi were a bit glorified though, all smart, clever, and a step ahead of everyone else, the americans seemed dumb and their characters were not well explored overall 9/10 1/3/2010 12:57:25 AM |
