Functionally I'm an atheist

I have my own weird mystical beliefs at times but I keep them to myself -- let's just say there are times when I'm an optimistic agnostic

I am a christian, but I havent been to church in a year or so. I believe that Jesus Christ is my savior and that he died on the cross to pay for my sins. BUT, I do not go to church regularly, I do not listen to christian music, and I do not lead a very christian lifestyle.
I think that alot of people are pushed away from christianity because they think they have to act perfect and give up all of the worldly sins that we find so enticing.

I do not go to church very often because I dont like the politics and gossiping that goes on in a small country church. I do not feel comfortable in church with all of the goody goody church folks because I know they look down on me.

Honestly being a non christian and such, I must confess I would go to a church if it was bearable (had a decent message and stuff, not too early in the morning, etc.) mainly for women folk.

I mean, why do people dress up to look good for church anyway. I think of it more as a booty rollcall

church is a scheme. take away the money and bylaws and then you might have something meaningful. The problem with smaller organized churches is that most people go with other agendas and the wrong ideas/reasons.

I'm Big Business and i approved this message.

No, but a creator is both highly unlikely and unnecessary.

Agreed. However I am unwilling to accept the idea that the highly unlikely and unnecessary never exist.

You can still be atheist and not be 100%. You don't have to add the agnostic copout.

You are free to whatever interpretation of the definition of atheism, of course, but my understanding of it and the definition I have accepted is that an atheist denies the existence of any god and would be willing to argue that there is no god. I, for all intents and purposes, do not believe in the existence of a god, but I also do not rule out the possibility.

It is a slight difference in belief, but one that I do believe creates a distinction.

Quote :
"agnostic /æg'n?st?k/ [ag-nos-tik]

–noun
1. a person who holds that the existence of the ultimate cause, as God, and the essential nature of things are unknown and unknowable, or that human knowledge is limited to experience.
2. a person who denies or doubts the possibility of ultimate knowledge in some area of study.
"

Quote :
"a·heist /'e??i?st/ [ey-thee-ist]

–noun a person who denies or disbelieves the existence of a supreme being or beings.
"

All atheists disbelieve the existence of a supreme being or beings. That does NOT mean that you are 100% positive. Agnostic means you don't know and say there is no way to know and therefore don't take a position either way. Only 1% or less of all atheists will say that there absolutely without a doubt is no god.

^chances are slim

I don't know what I am.

Raised Muslim.

Stopped practising around the age of 10-12.

Stopped believing around the age of 18-20.

STILL believe there is a Supreme Being. (when looking at complexity of DNA, brain, universe, etc)

But what am I?

I don't know.

If you believe in a supreme creator without any sort of religious practice associated you are likely a deist. If you think that the universe is actually god (like einstein) then you would be a pantheist.

i was raised Southern Baptist

the whole "King James Only" thing, all "washed in the Blood of the Lamb" ... you know the type

then i actually studied the origins of Christianity and realized the KJV was the most flawed and inaccurate version of all the major translations, and that Southern Baptists are a bunch of kneejerk reactionary moonbats

then it continued to spiral down from there, til I became a raving, reactionary atheist.

now i've moderated myself back to a steady-state, agnosticism.

That would suck if you were a priest and the apocalype came and you had to fight the devil. I'd be like "shit I didn't think that was for real!"
