he's gotten better recently

he's still not what one would describe as 'good' however

[Edited on February 8, 2009 at 4:10 PM. Reason : he's still toeing the 'adequate' line]

Sidney needs to learn what return on investment means. Investing in horner is not worth the one game he plays well out of 10.

put him on the bench forever

I honestly have no idea why Horner is EVER in.

Put in Williams. Sure, he's raw, but he has potential at least. Horner has already reached his (extremely low) limits.

I agree actually

he's shown improvement and stepped up sometimes

but he's a total defensive liability on anyone with a glimmer of quickness, I can't even count how many times he's gotten burnt for the opposition getting an easy layup

Anyone will get better given the minutes he got. The problem is that other players can improve much more and much faster given the same minutes.

This guy should not play over Johnny Thomas, Tracy Smith, or CJ Williams and yet he does over all three.

We should all flood the Lowe show with calls. If we unite, we can stop this thing.

Why he got more minutes than Smith --despite Smith starting and not missing a single shot-- is mind-blowing. Same with CJ. Same with JT. Same with anyone else on this team.

Smith was limping after the game, I assume his being injured was why Horner got minutes.

You know who should have been limping after the game? McCauley, who was fucked in the shoulder on multiple occasions.

Smith looked fine in overtime the few minutes he played.

If his being "injured" is why Horner played so damn much, and I'm not buying it, then he needs to sack the fuck up and stop being a pussy.

^Ditto. CJ was ballin and hasn't been able to see the court.

Thomas, CJ, and Tracy should all play over him.

What he did out there tonight was downright embarrassing.

0 shots, 1 rebound, 2 turnovers in 9 mnutes?

That sounds about right.

man i usually defend him but he played terrible tonight.

granted even w/ him on the bench we did our standard have a huge lead late in the second half and (nearly, this time) lose.

More like thanks Lee Fowler. Stop hating on Herb already.

Degand looked like he did early in 2007-08 tonight.

If he ever gets under control, he could be good.

It means Fowler alledgedly didn't make any contact with our recruits once Herb left. Because of this, they felt disconnected from State and went elsewhere -- Werner, Davis, Wright (even though everyone knows Chris Wright wasn't going to come regardless)

well, his two turnovers did happen back to back when our lead went from 19 to 10. Then he got yanked and Lowe went double PG to break the press.

See what happens when Horner sees limited time?

In the sparse time he was in, Wake went on runs....

This has been happening all year long....finally, you people are seeing the light.

bttt for the point raised above^

ive said it time and time again, the dude sucks and the team gets slowed down when he is in the game not to mention they score all over the kid.

he's weak and slow.

Notice that GT comes back when Horner is in?

Look at when we play well and when we don't.

Play well team:
Javi/Degand
CJ/Fells
Costner
Smith
McCauley

So when you need Costner, Smith, or McCauley to rotate, just play a 3 guard lineup. Horner should average 5 minutes/game to further give the bigs a blow.

i'm not a big horner fan at all. in fact i  when he steps on the court. but the dude had a decent game today offensively. i think i saw his tat start to glow just a little.

Horner could score 10 points a game and it still wouldn't be worth playing him. GT ran at him on EVERY play he was in the game, and most of the time, they got something good out of it.

When he gets burned, that leads to easy points and fouls on costner and mccauley, which is much more damaging than the few good things he does. Another reason we suck offensively when he is in is because he is a shitty screener. If he does ever get open rolling off the screen, he is no threat to do shit other than pump fake. The offense totally bogs down.

It's just not worth it. If you are looking for a player who is just supposed to be an energy guy, the freshmen are much better options. Give the playing time to someone who will actually develop into a good player. Our young guys have shown that they can hit an open 3 more often than horner can.

More than anything, I think this game proved that CJ Williams should be that guy in to play the 3 when you need to go small and rest Smith, McCauley, Costner.

And really, playing Horner and two bigs is really still going small...it's not like Horner can rebound or play post defense (or any defense really). What's the downside to playing CJ over Horner?

Ideal team (subs):
Degand (Javi, Mays possibly)
Fells (CJ, Javi)
Costner (CJ, Horner 5 mins.)
Smith
McCauley

After the game starts, rotate Costner, Smith, McCauley. The key is limit Horner to 5 mins. or less per game.

I agree. Yes he finally scored some but he plays no defense and does not help rebounding at all.

CJ Williams is turning out to be a nice player.....if he continues to improve his 3-shot he could start next year.

He has yet to harness the energy of the flaming basketball.

But really he looks scared and confused most of the time when he's on the court. His heels do not even leave the floor to get a rebound!
