honestly, after going through ME, only 50% or so actually seemed "nerdy" to me by definitions that I feel are consistent with this thread. I was pretty surprised.

I had some classes with Chem E students and they were mostly cool.

Yeah its kind of hypocritical. I can see that some people that have been doing this for years have a lot of posts but the people with absurd amounts of posts per day seem to have some qualities that the CSC nerds have.

CSC beats ECE and any other engineering/science by an order of magnitude.

That being said any friend of mine from ECE i met at one of my co-ops.

I'd say the engineering stereotype easily holds for chemical engineers to. At my job I socialize with the techs more than i do with the other engineers. They usually have a lot more interesting conversations about girls/drugs/beer/sports/guitars etc. Although if i had to rank it i'd say the Mechanical are the coolest of the engineers to chill with. The chem E's tend to talk about random movie trivia, work, strange facts, work, or sci-fi.

i was shocked at the amount of people who were in engineering, but had no practical thought process and previous "hands on" know-how

Go to AICHE Regionals this semester

Too much fun at Nationals, apparently

IE/ISE people are not bad. We are by far the most social engineering discipline out there since our careers will cater to more people-oriented positions -- consulting, management, etc.

most IE's I know were Mechanical or some other engineering and realized they could not cut; thus they went to IE b.c they did not want to be a complete slacking and do business.

You can thank good ole NCSU who emphasized pure theory instead of providign any sort of practical engineering knowledge unless the student chooses to do a co-op.
