i think what it comes down to

the discrepancies between open wheel cars and stock cars were much smaller during that time

at least as far as tires, etc. go

i mean, when foyt first won at indy, they were still running front-engine cars

agreed, but tony stewart proved that it could be done

although i think his experience on dirt helps him a lot

my favorite part of the danica thing is how folks are like "she was so good in indy. why is she gonna suck in NASCAR?" and then when you tell them she only won one race and it was in Japan they're like "wut?"

well, those folks are the ones who don't pay attention anyhow

she's a very good driver, but not a superior driver

she can definitely win where ever she goes given quality equipment and time

but without running a full schedule it's going to take a while for her to get used to a completely different sort of racing

and by then all the aforementioned people who don't pay attention will have labeled her a failure in nascar

on the upside, that sets her up for all sorts of lame human interest stories when five years from now she's full-time in sprint cup and winning a race now and then

yep. i guess it's good for the sport to be getting more people interested and watching the racing, but they're only interested in her. so many folks turned the california nationwide race off after patrick got lapped and they missed a hell of a finish.

true, but to see everyone (except 88 of course) so high was a nice thing (well for me... I know that many of my fellow NASCAR fans are anti-Hendrick simply because of the rainbow warrior, and, my favorite, 48)


I like to see a couple of them in top 10, but it was a little better than usual yesterday (I didn't get to watch it though, unfortunately)
