2.) I view manned spaceflight as a waste. This rocket's purpose is manned spaceflight. Therefore it's all a waste, regardless of any data gained.

There are plenty of every day items we have today thanks in part to NASA. to name a few, invisible braces (in part because of NASA), scratch resistant lenses, components of the ear thermometer.

Also its in our nature to want to explore and look beyond...if more people thought like you (thank God they don't) we'd all still be living in caves making sure there was enough food to go round...

Also...until you, yourself, start contributing to solving the worlds problems keep your mouth shut. Keep your political hot air in the soap box and don't waste our time with it.

the Ares I and Ares V rockets are going to be a much more efficient and safe system than the space shuttle. I've been saying for years that we need a dedicated system for human transport and a dedicated system for heavy loads.

think about how many fewer launches the construction of the ISS would have been if we were using the Ares V instead of the space shuttle. (no, not all of the components were delivered by the shuttle, but a lot were.)
