Now that Jake is out of the picture I might actually claim to be a Panthers fan. If only they could get rid of that ugly shade of blue.

Yeah yeah, he didn't go down. But that was a big hit, as evidenced by the fact that he likely fractured his arm/wrist.

Fortunately, he's a fucking beast, absorbed the blow, got into he endzone and celebrated. Dude's a monster.

Didn't catch a whole lot of the game today. How did Matt Moore look?

With the guys they have out right now they could do some damage next year if the defense is finally mastering this system and if Moore is actually going to develop into a solid QB.

moore looked pretty stellar IMO. 6 tds in the last two weeks against 2 playoff caliber teams

he could have taken the huge hit, broken his wrist, and not scored.

Im not so sure Moore is the anointed one. Our running game resurfaced somehow during his tenure... When he plays well in a few games when we can't run the ball at all I will be convinced...

IMO, 4 things make Moore an improvement over Jake (and I was a huge Jake supporter)

1. He's got great poise in the pocket. Never seems to get panicked back there
2. He's got decent mobility and can throw pretty well on the run
3. He plays within himself and knows his limitations. (most crucial)
4. He has sweet-looking eye black

no doubt he is streaking as delhomme took strike three:

Oh yea no doubt it was a big hit, but he delivered the hit and flattened the safety, then walked into the endzone with a broken arm. The article made it sound like he was just the victim of the hit

The Panthers running game is the same as it's always been. It's just that you can't run, run, run, you have to pass every now and then. And when Jake's passing, you have about a 10% chance of something good happening, a 40% chance of an incompletion, and about a 50% chance of an interception. If you're playing against the Panthers and Jake is the QB, what do you do? Stuff the run and dare Jake to throw. That sets off a negative feedback loop wherein Jake's boneheaded plays set the Panther's back big, thereby requiring a whole lot of passing to catch up quickly, which in turn leads to lots of bad stuff, because the other team knows the Panthers are gonna pass a lot.

All the Panthers ever needed was an "OK" QB who can manage to complete a few passes here and there to set up the run. As long as the QB is good enough to keep catastrophic things from happening, the Panthers are successful (see Moore's recent games and last season, when Jake was playing decently).

I think moore is simply doing well right now because he uses his head, I've noticed on most of his throws he always gives himself room for error, meaning if he makes a bad throw or something unexpected happens it's an incompletion and not an interception

for instance he throws a lot to the outside and leads receivers towards the out of bounds lines, he also defers to his receivers, where delhomme would throw something up for grabs in the middle moore won't be too cocky to just dump off a pass for a 3 yard again as long as the receiver has room to run and make more out of it (rivers does this very well also)

and he actually seems to pay attention to the safeties; when he makes a deep more risky pass the safety is usually playing up to the receiver and not just sitting back waiting

i guess it's pretty much just not being a dumbass but whatever is going on jake's head/arm/life right now he can't seem to do the same thing
