I'm going to be in Norfolk March 22nd - April 26th. Am I correct in thinking i'll be able to catch some bluefish?

Anybody else getting ready for the crappie to spawn? My favorite time of year is during the early spring when I can go out and consistently fill my boat with those tasty little bastards

Headed out of new river inlet yesterday. Caught tons of black sea bass, grunts, porgys, several beeliners, a couple ring tails, and 2 gag groupers!

I like fishing for blue. They're fun. Not a bad eat either.

^^No. Just happened to catch them. Threw them back obviously. They were undersized anyways.

just caught about 10 shad off the bank here in goldsboro. only got to fish about an hour before it started raining again. only one was a white, the rest were hickories. i caught a hickory on my first cast, which was pretty cool. also had two doubles (hickory on spoon and hickory on dart at the same time). i'll post some pics if deemarie's camera cord will work with my camera. left mine in raleigh.

NRR and I are fishing again today. Well, actually I gave up so I'm sitting on the bank watching him wear the shad out. He's caught a least two dozen, several large white shad.

If only I could cast better, I might could keep up.

Trying to go Wed/Thurs out of OI. Thursday is the better weather window but I have to be at work Friday morning. We also are short one outrigger since someone failed to secure it and it went bye-bye.

I think we are going to pick up jigging gear as well. Run only 4 lines for BFT's and when the school comes drop the jigs.

That's my thought as well. I don't golf. But these are the husbands of my GF's friends, so they are trying to do the whole "you guys go hang out and we will go shop" type of deal. I just can't see paying $30 to golf when I won't even enjoy it, but at the same time I don't want to be "that guy".

if it'll make you feel better, you probably won't catch anything down there off the pier (i'm assuming you were gonna go fish off the pier)

however, low chances of me actually catching something has NEVER stopped me from going fishing

Exactly! I could sit out on the pier all damn day and not catch a thing, and would still have a MUCH better time than playing golf.

However, one of the guy's golfing owns the house we are staying at, so I kinda feel obligated.

So, most likely I will just sit on the cart and drink beer while these fags play golf.

There is a chance for rain Saturday though, so maybe I will be saved.

some of my best days have been in the rain

plus, there's usually less folks fishing then and you can have some spots all to yourself

I concur

And I will go 1 further. The day I caught the biggest bass of my life, I had to break ice at the dock to get the boat in the water.

yeah, those are the days when you have to dip your rod in the water after every few casts to melt the ice off the guides so the line will quit sticking to them

went out of new smyrna beach, FL over break, caught a few dogfish, triggers, and black sea bass. Caught a ton, like 15+, B-liners but due to new regulations in FL, they're out of season until April 1st

So it was windy as shit in the Keys, and if it wasn't windy, it was pouring down rain. Needless to say, the dirty dozen was not caught. The only days it didn't blow less than 20 kts were Wednesday (Key West/rain day) and Friday (last day).

I did, however, manage to catch 3 fish on my list, and a whole mess that weren't.

Black Grouper

Gag Grouper

Mangrove Snapper (one of about 86)

Also caught a snook in the rain, so no photo. Hooked up with a nurse shark, but it broke the leader off before I could grab it. Not the most productive Keys fishing trip, to say the least. Going again this summer, so maybe I will do better then.

Went fishing for white bass on Jordan today. Was there about 2 hours and landed 3 fish. Lost one nice fish that I would have kept for supper. Water is warming and fish should be spawning soon. May try to hit up some spots agin on Jordan this weekend and go after some crappie.
