yeah but, what songs traditionally put you in a good mood? like, you could have a shitty day at work, your car breaks down, your dog dies, AND your gf breaks up with you - and hearing this song will probably make you smile, tap your foot, and feel better for a few minutes?

The Foundations - Build Me Up Buttercup
Frankie Valie & The Four Seasons - Can't take my eyes off of you
James Brown - I feel good
Otis Day & The Knights - Shama Lama Ding Dong
Stevie Wonder - For Once in my Life
Tom Jones - It's Not Unusual (I always picture the Carlton dance when I hear it)

ok, so really, just about any song i can sing along with perks me up. i LOVE to sing, especially while driving or to the kids at work, my assistant probably hates me for that.

Stickshifts and safetybelts is a really good one

one time I had a random dream where this chick and I knew were singing it and we were killing the harmonies, way better than I can really sing it

and the chorus to Carbon Monoxide by Cake is also pretty fun

Too many, but I'll go with songs that bring the "feel good" nostalgically. I listed [different] songs from some bands already suggested so I didn't have to think.

The Who - Baba O'Riley
Smashing Pumpkins - Today
Brand New - Logan To Government Center
Rancid - Ruby Soho
Third Eye Blind - Motorcycle Drive By
Reel Big Fish - Sell Out
The Get Up Kids - Ten Minutes
Ben Folds Five - Song For The Dumped
Queen - Don't Stop Me Now
Don Henley - Boys Of Summer

Already mentioned, but reiterated out of necessity:

Thin Lizzy - The Boys Are Back In Town
Smashing Pumpkins - Hummer
