LET'S TAKE A TRIP TO GEORGIA!

We waited to stop at a grocery store before getting to the mountains so we wouldn't have to keep food on the drive. Burgers and dogs the first night. Grilled speedie chicken and veggies on the second. Bacon-egg-cheese English muffins for breakfast each morning. Tara bought a gator hat to wear.

Metts was bringing beer but he wasn't going to get to the campsite until 2 to 3 hours after us. We stopped at a gas station in Blairsville, GA to fill up and get beer. We were in a dry county. WHAMMY! We did see this for sale out side of the gas station: $900 and it's yours!

We found a parking lot for $10 that was close to the race area. We gathered up our stuff and made it to the battleground.

The entrance/exit is on the left of the barricade. The right side is part of the race track.

TWWWT!

The following are shots of random people.

The Misfits anyone?!

The shirt and tie was a good touch. One guy also had a briefcase. Holla at the Cary native.

A Southern Warrior!

Kratos, God of War!

Do you have it?! Also, I was surprised by the number of girls in attendance.

The Ultimate Warrior and his two girls. Wait for the end to see a good finale picture.

Hot girl in a Leia Slave girl outfit. I came.

LOOK AT ME I'M AN ATTENTION WHORE!

This guy! Before, during, and after.

Aaron! During the race and after.

Metts on the mudslide before the barbed wire.

Metts after the race.

They repeated like 2837427 times "it's 3.22 miles!"

One guy finished in 14.xx

Someone told Fareako it was only 2.54 or something.

Definitely not. Nobody seemed to care too much though. Beer was higher on the priority list.

I think they're timing was messed up too. Because my 'official time' was two minutes longer than the time i recorded on my watch. I started my watch timer after i ran over the mats and then stopped it after the finisher's medal was placed over my head. My watch stopped at 19:09.

One of the officiators told me that the course was 2.45 miles. I think that when they were designing the course it was 3.22, but when they built it it ended up being .5 miles shorter. Probably something to do with the city.

I can't decide if people should try to get in the same wave or spread it out again. I'm thinking spreading it out may actually work better because then the non-runners get to take pictures and watch everyone's stuff. I may sign up for like 1.

wait- so this is a drinking thing moreso than a physical test sort of thing? cause it looks fun, but I am in no cardio shape to be attempting anything like this seriously. But it looks like a hell of a lot of fun

Well it's in August, so you have time.

And it's 3 miles.

And yes.

And I ran it last year when I'd broken my pelvis and ribs 3 months prior.

So DO IT.

I am pretty excited. I kind of want to do a campout again like we did last year because that was a lot of fun, but then again in August it's going to be hot as fuck.

just did the Fl one yesterday. much more challenging than i expected.

from the pics and stuff, ours had WAY more mud. i think i ran through 3 ft water about 7 times, plus we had to crawl through mud in a dark tent, plus the barb wire thing at the end.

we also had to do some balance beam junk which i thought was gong to kill me b/c horrible balance + muddy shoes + tired = death.

Ours had a respectable amount of mud. The pictures were all taken from two of the spectator view points provided along the race. Most of the 'mud' covered pictures you saw were after we went through clean water and washed ourselves off. I wouldn't try to brag too much about the mud content of your race as compared to ours. Especially since we did the Marine Corps Mud Run three months later.

[Edited on January 30, 2011 at 8:44 PM. Reason : For the record, approximately the same obstacles are in almost every race. ]

haha calm down guy, i wasnt trying to one-up your race, just pointing out differences.

for example, florida doesnt have any hills, so our "hill run" at the end was pretty pussy. just thought other dasher's might be intersted to hear about the setup of other races...

also, it took me aobut 37 min (either 3 or 3.45 miles, saw diff things depending on where i looked) so i def am not trying to brag. that thing kicked my ass.
