Not really. How about that Peyton kid that they killed. 1) He had broken the law, more than once. 2) The cops had pictures of the kid and his buddies with guns. When they went to arrest him shit got real and he got killed and I believe that the LEOs involved were fired.

i have read 4 pages of this nonsense. here is what the cop should have done, because i've been in this situation before.

the hard part was already done, he had the cat trapped. drive this cat out to another subdivision, 30 miles away, drop off cat. someone elses problem / family pet. problem solved. tell nobody of what you did. if the neighbor asks if you have seen a cat, say "nope, you know how cats are, they leave for a few days and come back...". cop would still have his job, and animal lovers wouldn't be tooo pissed (because the cat would still be alive, just in survival mode).

i am assuming that the trap is a cage trap (because, thats what we always used to trap domestic cats).

He should've left the cat in the trap, called animal control and let the county deal with it (fine, euthanize or whatever).

Just because it's a stray being brought to a shelter doesn't mean it would be automatically euthanized. If it was friendly, I'm sure the shelter staff would attempt to adopt it out... they would probably wait to put it on the kill list also because the owners could show up looking for the cat.

by some of the logic in this thread, cattle and hog farmers should serve jail time for killing animals...

i still say the only thing the cop did wrong was get caught...he should have taken the cat down the road and dropped it off, and tell no one. end of story, cop still has his job.

vick deserved a penalty for dog fighting, just not jail time. i have a moral problem with fighting animals to death, and starving them to be blood thirsty killers. obviously, the government has a problem with it as well, and its against the law---i just think vick was punished to set an example and thats wrong on the judicial system.
