There was so much good writing packed into that episode it was insane! "I feel like a little girl, writing about her day."

How he forgot where he was going, and then he woke up. If you listen, he'll tell you about the time he thought he was an angel, and dreamt of being perfect. And then he'll smile with wisdom content that he realized that the world isn't perfect. We're flawed because we want so much more. We're ruined, because we get these things and wish for what we had." |

I bet she was thinking of that line all night, I looked up at The Barbizon and I thought of all the women in there. One in every room. Touching themselves to sleep. I like sleeping alone, stretching out like a skydiver. Cool patches to roll onto. I should appreciate it more." |

Surprised there was no discussion tonight. Guess all the cool kids were watching Boardwalk Empire.
As much as I loved Don's narration of his journal entries last week, I'm really glad that he had "writers block" this week. They didn't need to make that a weekly thing, IMO, it was just perfect as a one-off last week.
I didn't enjoy this episode as much as last weeks, but that is probably because Don was basically a secondary character this week. It was still a great episode though. Looks like next week will be quite action packed based on the previews. Can't wait. 9/20/2010 5:37:13 AM |

I just started watching this show not that long ago, and have been continually amazed.
This weeks I found to be particularly good. A lot of the show was exchanged through looks and scenes, rather than the lines themselves.
I really enjoyed how the three women were paired up time and time again, and how the doctor was phased out of focus when the brunette grabbed sally and sally was okay.
This is my favorite season by far, which is atypical for season 4 of a show. 9/20/2010 8:57:18 AM |

I gotta say I was really disappointed that Don reverted back to his typical man-whoreish self. Right when you want to have compassion for his character and want to see his life improve, he regresses like a drug addict. Oh well...lets see how he fucks it up this time. 10/4/2010 1:38:31 AM |

well I can't say he fucked up. I'm mostly concerned about him starting to drink more again, however, he at least has the women in his life watching out for how much he drinking he does.
I can't say he fucked up because he thought things were over with that one woman and the other one seems to care about him and knows how to set her own limits. Since either option is a good choice, being involved with either can't really be considered a fuck up. 10/4/2010 8:58:21 AM |

What have taken away from it is Roger feels Lucky Strike is his because having that power house of an account reinforces his self-worth. Roger didn't want Pete on the account because Pete's presence would could possibly over shadow him. Last week was a really big slap to the face because he was reminded by the client that he inherited that account.
Roger is probably on the way out and will be a guest character more next season in the same vein as Burt Cooper has been this season. 10/4/2010 11:45:29 AM |

Didn't really think about that, but that would be something...
But I could see that having a black list type of backfire.
And yes, Roger was just typing to keep it under his hat long enough to get another job (the Rolodex scene) and then to cover up not telling.

The part with Peggy getting "kissed" like that was meaningful, I think.
I started to get pissed that they're just getting into this ridiculous stuff now. It seems random that all of the sudden dudes are ramping up their harassment to obscene levels.
But it ultimately adds up. I suspect a lot of this extreme shit didn't start occurring that often until women earned more and more power in the office, and the men felt threatened. Furthermore, Peggy wasn't subjected to a lot of this stuff before because the men in the office saw her come up, and she earned some respect in that way. These season 4 guys are new, and they're all, "Who the fuck is this Peggy bitch? And Joan is a slut!" It used to just be childish remarks about Peggy's size, which are really bad, but it wasn't mouth assault. I wonder if Peggy can somehow leverage this stuff in her favor.
And women in general are coming out of their shells more at this time. So dudes go to college with women who are all free to have fun, and the dudes loved it, I imagine. But then they have to readjust to the work setting where women are like, "Uhhh, this is an office. I expect some respect."

This seems pretty out there to me, why would Sal want to out himself publicly to save the agency that rejected him? And beyond that Lee Garner Jr. claimed that it was the board that wanted to consolidate their business at the other agency, so him getting blackmailed isn't going to change that. Maybe Lee Garner Jr. was just using that as an excuse, but we have no reason to doubt him on that front.
