How is 90 days in jail cruel?


Sidenote: What I hate about sentencing is they never follow through with it. For instance, a 90 day sentence is only 2 weeks. A 2 year sentence is only 90 days. It's to try to scare the people who have never gotten convicted but people who are convicted are likely inspired by the knowledge.
My friend had to serve 10 days in jail for a 30 day sentence... and they let him CHOOSE which 10 days he wanted to be locked up. He chose weekends. and not only that, they offered for him to spend those days in the workforce program doing community service. So he didn't get any jailtime at all and had to serve 5 weekend of 8 hours of community service.
