because that article and thousands like it over just the last year have made the same set of mistakes. mistakes that (in whatever proportion) led to Trump being elected. I would like that kind of thing to stop happening, so I am suggesting that people who care about the well-being of the world, the US, and the Democratic Party (and Jews too why the fuck not) learn from history so we stop making the same dumbass mistakes.

consider it an exercise in media literacy. we recognize the problem on the right (qanon, etc), but stick our head in the sand when "our people" fall for the same manipulations

ethnic cleansing is a biased characterization of what is happening in Israel/Palestine. when you see people say this, you should think "these people either have no idea what words means, or they do know and they're lying anyways"

so when people who either are ignorant or liars make plans to protest Israeli soccer fans, that's designed to provoke a response. which is probably a good bet to work. and then when it did happen (which I do not support), it led to organized groups of people who went around the city looking to attack anybody who is Jewish. if you know anything about the history of pograms (which I did not characterize this incident as) you'll see a lot of parallels. as I said, there is some evidence that all this was premeditated and all this was just a pretext to attack Jews. or at the minimum was taken as an opportunity to attack Jews afterwards.

if UNC comes to town for a sportsball game and some of them start shouting FUCK NC STATE, is it ok to start running around town the next day beating up UNC fans? nope.
