Actually, he did. When the schedules were released. It's been brought back up because he's been asked about it and he gave his usual honest and upfront answer. Now he's being called a whiner.
TOB doesn't make excuses, he's not known for it, so he must really be pissed, but also, he's just answering the questions he's asked. It is fucked up for them to have a late night non local road game then have a Thursday night game. If it had been a home game or maybe even an early road game, not as big of a deal.
Also, the ACC set the schedule, not ESPN, which is why Tom said the ACC made us a "sacrificial lamb". I think the agreement is that the conference gets a certain number of broadcast games and the ACC determines the game.9/14/2010 1:34:36 PM |

Cinci played Indiana St (FCS) at noon at home on Saturday. They didn't have to travel anywhere afterward.

its better than them having a bye week to prepare for us, but not quite as "bad" as our situation 9/14/2010 1:41:28 PM |

also, everyone stop acting like ESPN is doing us a favor.
they would love to do traditional powerhouses but as stated before, there are not that many schools that have the ability, logistically, to do thursday night games. You don't think UNC-CH would bust a nut to do thursday night games all the time, they can't. supposedly alot of schools are in this predicament that have stadiums on campus and some of it has to do with class schedules, also parking etc.
it's a non-issue. would it have been cool if he hadn't said anyting? sure, nothing to talk about. I would imagine he also didn't realize how bad it was until after the game, how late it was and realizing the logistics, plus the heat/humidity effect. 9/14/2010 1:42:25 PM |

Might need to point out that

is to our advantage. If you're going to have to travel, you might as well do it during recovery time right after the game when you wouldn't be able to get anything else done anyway.
Cincy will have to take non recovery time (time they could be practicing) to come to us while we would've already sat on the plane and come home as opposed to sitting on our couches during recovery time.9/14/2010 2:13:48 PM |

How much rest and recovery do you think gigantic football players are going to get while crammed into an airplane, or even if they're on a bus (I don't know which they actually took for this game)?
At a home game, they'll be icing sore joints, having trainers tend to minor injuries, stretching out, and other recovery activities.

all you had to do was upgrade your directv package from basic to choice. a whopping $5/month difference and you can switch back when you want, which we probably will when basketball season is over.9/14/2010 7:21:42 PM |

Quote : | "3. Cincinnati at NC State (ESPN/ESPN3, 7:30 p.m. ET): The Wolfpack are off to a 2-0 start for the first time under coach Tom O'Brien, and the defense has shown some much-needed improvement. Cincinnati hasn't done anything worth bragging about, especially after totaling a whopping 15 rushing yards in a road loss to Fresno State. Home-field advantage this week could be huge for the Pack's bowl hopes.
Yeah, I know, Georgia Tech is playing North Carolina, and it's a conference game and the Coastal race, yada yada ... But considering the way the Jackets played against Kansas, and the trouble Carolina's program is in, the three aforementioned teams deserve more ink." |

I do not have DirecTV. Besides you are missing the point. There are 1000's of students/alumni that do not have the money or the knowledge to go upgrade their package for one game. An away game should be planned such to be easily viewable by the main distribution of their fan base.
I know my ideas are eXtreme and I apolgize to TWW for my unconventional thinking. Perhaps next time they need to schedule the game for 4 if it means they can put it on a pretty standard channel that most people would have.

So what do you guys think it will come down to tomorrow night?
I hear Cincinnati saying that they have gotten away from their passing game and are a more run based team? This does not make sense to me, however they did loose that USC transfer WR. After last week I think our O-Line is key. They were beat up pretty good on Saturday and I think they will be tested again. They need to step up and give RW some time in the pocket so we can get our O rolling again. I am not sure if it was a fluke but I hope our D steps up again. I think that they will. It would also be nice to see some more TOs and some Nasty Nate action.
This will be my first home game this year. Pumped. 9/15/2010 9:14:25 AM |

But I for one would be happy if they decided the try to run the ball all game. Our line and linebackers are the strength of our D. Plus they only managed 15 rushing yds v Fresno St.

TOB said after the game that he was glad they saw Godfrey because Collaros was just as good or better. I watched the fresno st game on espn3 and Collaros is no where near as fast as Godfrey or even RW so i think TOB was just cautioning the guys and being respectful of an opponent. He reminds me more of Riley Skinner, someone who can run but not an actual threat. He's got happy feet too, so as long as we can get pressure, and it looks like Tenuta knows how to dial it up, we'll be fine. I also think we'll play much better contain (having seen Godfrey) if the QB does decide to run.
What I'm going to be more interested in seeing is how RW and the WR's respond. This dropping-passes bullshit has got to stop or i'd bench those bastards. Let TJ and JaySmith, Steve Howard, Quintin Payton etc. play. Owen, Jarvis and DDavis needs to concentrate. We could really take a step forward as a team the whole season, this season could be remotely cool, if some of these guys would buckle down. I'm also not being nit-picky, im talking about dropping wide open passes when no one is on you. 9/15/2010 10:06:40 AM |

TJ missed a big one too late. The passing game was horrible....everyone was off. Some of it was credit to the D, some of was just piss poor decision making, passing and performance.
