fwiw, here are TOB's results vs. West Virginia while at BC:

1997: W 31-24
1998: L 35-10
1999: W 34-17
2000: L 14-34
2001: W 34-10
2002: L 14-24
2003: L 28-35
2004: W 36-17

If anything, at least TOB is familiar with them and knows how to beat them. Granted, he never faced Pat White (2005-08) or Slaton (05-07). But Coach Stewart was an offensive coach under Rich Rodriguez during his tenure, and still has a dual-threat QB in Smith and a dangerously fast RB in Devine.

^not to mention that just about everyone i've seen online has gotten their tickets from stubhub or some other means besides the wolfpack club and the official school allotment. We'll have a good crowd.

But then there are people like me, who bought more tickets than I should have, because I thought my family was going to be in Florida for Christmas this year.

If anyone needs two tickets, section 205, row X, let me know...

Not the endorsement the Papajohns bowl was hoping for im sure

Quote :
"N.C. State played in the PapaJohns.com Bowl in Birmingham, Ala., in 2008. Williams remembers a field as hard as concrete that he didn't want to fall on, and little went right for Cole on the trip.

"It was cold," Cole said. "The town was empty because it was Christmas. The stadium was not the nicest. It wasn't in a really great area. And the comedy show was terrible.

"But I'd say we had a good time all together. We made fun out of it and had a good time. But I think this one's going to be a lot better.""

"Good" news for us, bad news for this kid:

One more plug. If someone wants to do an impromtu trip in my small plane down to Orlando for the game (leave Tuesday, come back Wednesday), then let me know. I have one other definite. Not including any rental cars fees or hotel stay when we get down there (we'll make it as cheap as possible), I will want $100 per person for the gas in the plane. Send me a PM.

Well, its all weather dependent. The people that will be best for this trip are those who werent going to make the drive, or pay for an expensive airplane ticket, and will go if its cheap and easy. Weather forecasts are generally shit. So the decision will probably be made a day before the bowl game.

The WPC needs to overcome people's bad experience of inconvenience and slow turnaround of going through them. In the past, the NC State allotment has often been for worse seats than were available on ticketmaster or through the bowl, and you don't have the advantage and convenience of knowing what seat you are buying and purchasing it instantly online. I know they are trying to maintain integrity of the WPC rankings and look after the big donors, but I feel like many (maybe 50%?) more people would purchase tickets through the school if it could be done in an automated fashion. When people are accustomed to buying tickets online, they don't like to put an order in and wait for whatever tickets WPC assigns like the old days especially when bowl trips require such quick planning.

Honestly they should consider doing one of the following:

1) Scrap the WPC rankings entirely for the bowl and implement a sametime ticketmaster-style request online system on a first come, first served basis

2) Set aside a small percentage of the allotment for the WPC highest ranking donors, and do the rest online. Keep in mind if the remaining tickets in the NC State allotments are worse seats than are available to the general public through the bowl, people will not buy them.

3) Implement a short (1-2 day) electronic window after the bowl invite for WPC members/fans to request tickets, be assigned by ranking, and maybe even have an option on whether to claim or reject tickets.

4) Work with the ticket sales vendor to get a group code, so NC State commits to buying a fixed number of tickets rather than a block of seats. Any seats purchased through that code count against the NC State allotment.

Obviously the WPC wants to assign everything possible by rankings, which makes sense for season tickets/parking (season-long events with a long turnaround time) but is it worth missing bowl allotments (even when we take enough fans to the game to fill it)?

For what it's worth, the timing of the game midweek so soon after Christmas and the fact that we haven't gone to bowls with any consistency in recent years, and thus don't make holiday plans expecting it are both also responsible for driving down tickets IMO. I do like that Chris Kingston was pointing out that most of the Ticketmaster sales are going to NC addresses as well, which at least helps from a PR/bowl portfolio perspective if not the bottom line.

More good news

Quote :
"Stewart confirms academic casualties
By Dave Hickman

MORGANTOWN - Bill Stewart confirmed Wednesday that West Virginia will be without a handful of academic casualties for its bowl game on Tuesday, but would not identify them specifically because some of the cases may still be resolved.

Still, it appears likely that at least one starter and one backup will be affected. The starter is believed to be center Joe Madsen, while the backup is thought to be defensive lineman Josh Taylor.

The Mountaineers leave today for their appearance against North Carolina State in the Champs Sports Bowl in Orlando.

In addition to Madsen and Taylor, there could be other casualties because of grades. As it turns out, though, one doesn't matter. Cornerback Brandon Hogan is also believed to be academically ineligible, but he has been ruled out anyway because of his knee injury."

all of ESPN's bowl games are ESPN3 / ESPN Mobile TV

that ESPN Networks always works for something on ESPN even if it isn't on ESPN3, i think.

I've got 2 in section 205, row X. I'm trying to get rid of them for $45/per, but I'll part with them for less if they go to a tww'er. Just make an offer. I got them for $65/per through the Wolpfack Club, but then I realized that I wasn't going go be in FL for Christmas as I had thought. I just don't want to lose too much money...

I'll be at the game in the student section (202), so we can either exchange them here or there, but preferably somewhere before I leave early Tuesday morning.

Nah. I thought I would be in FL with the family for Christmas, so I bought 2 tickets through the WPC lottery, thinking that I would bring my dad. Then I found out we wouldn't be in FL less than a week later. Then I found out that Student Government got a charter bus to bring students down to Orlando. It's free for students, so I just got a regular student ticket (which ended up being a bit better - in section 202, row E), and will take that down.

But now I'm stuck with those original 2 tickets I purchased since no other family will be down there, and I wouldn't have any way of getting down there unless I go by myself. Luckily, a couple friends are also taking that bus down, so I won't be bored out of my mind for 20 hours.

EDIT: Oh yeah...if anyone wants my student tickets for the Alabama A&M game, let me know. Section 120, Row D. Needs a student id.

It hurts to look at the posts in all these fucking threads. Why on earth do people think the pack is gonna "shit the bed". For a team picked to only win 5 games this year I'm pretty fucking happy about the entire season and a way to end it on a good note.

We went to the Champ's Sports Kickoff luncheon today, both teams were there. It was pretty cool. The WVU players were pretty full of themselves - our guys just sat back and kept their mouths shut. Talked to Debbie for a few minutes. Went to Tampa for the night - gonna hit up the aquarium tomorrow then head back to Orlando for the pregame festivities and such.
