I have answered my own question: it is malicious.

You foil their plans by "not feeling like it"...lamest blow off excuse in the book for guys trying to get some.

Greg is disheartened and writes you off as a failed prospect. His formerly exhaustive texting of you (which may have ramped up upon you thinking he was attractive) is now limited to just simple replies and random comments. Kyle goes to him and is all "bro wtf" and still sees a shot for the two of you, but is pissed at you for fucking it up. Kyle plays to fix both you and Greg into being amicable again. Greg is resistance, as shown by inviting other friends over, but with a little lube (alcohol) things may work out.

so it seems to me that kyle is the one that really wants to date/bone her, not greg

my guess is that kyle has been in love with her since day 1 but has no clue how to make a move and just hopes that eventually something random will happen.

greg is just his roomate that is being cool w/ her b/c he knows his friend loves her. however, greg realizes she is somewhat triflin.
