yeah, Bama was never ranked during Steele's time there. Not even close. They were ranked 21 back in '04 for a minute. other than that, poop.

**I take that back..they were top 10 in '06 early on, then the wheels started falling off. Steele left the team in '09.

#1 He was an assistant coach on a terrific '95 Championship UCLA team.

#2 He did a great job with Murray State in the late 90's who at the time was widely considered the elite midmajor school. 29-4 one season.

#3 He took Alabama who has zero basketball history to a temporary #1 in the country ranking

#4 He made an Elite 8 and if he were playing a human team in that game he would have had a legit shot of making the Final 4.

#5 He's been AP National Coach of the Year

#6 He's been SEC Coach of the Year

#7 He has landed elite recruits including the #1 OVERALL recruit Gerald Wallace

#8 He made 5 consecutive NCAA tournaments at ALAFUCKINGBAMA

#9 He has major college coaching experience and is a notable "name" coach (though not a star)

#10 He is almost undoubtedly the best coach we've had at NC State in over TWENTY FUCKING YEARS!



How in the hell can you NOT be positive about this hire? He is almost certainly a better hire than any of the three iffy guys we all thought we were choosing between 24 hours ago!

This morning we woke up thinking we were about to get a D1 Ast Coach or a low major reject.

Then we signed a guy who legitimately COULD bring us to national prominence and everyone explodes in agony? I could see this reaction if we signed him right out of the gate without talking to Miller, Donovan, etc. But when we are at our darkest hour and a bonafide candidate emerges to take the job THATS WHEN YOU GET MAD? WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE

His graduation rate is great if that kind of stuff is important to you (it isn't to me).


His teams do play at an anemically slow pace but they are super efficient on offense (top 20 in three consecutive seasons). Pretty blah results on defense, so that's an early concern.

Can't wait to see who these assistant coaches are that floored Debbie.
