Anyone just see the new episode? Weird ending. Is this the end of South Park? It really felt like a finale.

I think it was their way of saying this is the last episode of South Park EVER! Some of the episodes weren't that good this season, thus all of the references to everything looking/sounding like shit now. The argument between Stan's parents at the end before they choose to get divorced says it all. His mom mentions how his dad always tries to get famous somehow and it is the same thing over and over, just in different ways (we're done making the same episode over and over. We've run out of material).

Think about it...Last week they wrecked that Chinese character by revealing he isn't Chinese. That kid who dressed up as Mint Berry Crunch in the Coon and Friends episode is gone. Chef is dead, Cartman knows who his dad is, Ms. Chokes on Dick is dead. Osama Bin Laden was killed off before they could make a parody of the SEALS killing him. There are tons of episodes making fun of religion already. The Royal Wedding parody sucked. There is nothing original for them to do anymore.

Would they really end it like that, though? Unanounced and on kind of a low note? I always pictured a big, epic finale.

theres always new shit for them to write on because they write on current events, they made the saddam hussein was captured episode weeks after it happened so they could have made a bin laden episode if they wanted to. while it'd make an interesting ending, I would think they would announce ahead of time if it was a last episode.

[Edited on June 8, 2011 at 11:35 PM. Reason : episode aired 4 days after his capture actually

shit further reading tells me that the current contract between south park and comedy central has ended

They can't really do a big finale with all of the characters though because they did that for episode 200 and episode 201 to say thank you for watching our show.

I don't think they want to become the next Andy Griffith Show and continue on even after most of the funny characters are gone, but yeah it did sort of suck how it ended.

I bet the next 7 will be funny because Stan's parents sold the house and it sounded like they were going to divorce. That means Randy will be single. They've done some pretty funny episodes with him that involve sexual things, or porn.

If that was the last episode, that seems like a really downer way to end the series.

From Page 2

Quote :
"This weeks episode wasn't about us. To me it was Parker and Stone telling Comedy Central / Viacom they 'want a trade'.

This is their last year under contract is my understanding. Taking a swipe at the owners seems like a bad choice unless they are looking to work elsewhere."

I called this. The episode about comedy awards was a warning shot. I think they asked for the divorce last night.

They're 40 and they've really done nothing of significance outside the show, unless you count BASEketball.

Can't blame them if they finally want try new things.

Fifteen years is a long time for anything.

I assumed the ending was a joke based on Sharon's "and a week later everything goes back to normal" speech.

As a person who grew up with south park, from high school till now, if that was the end it actually makes me a little sad. I really hope they dont end it on a downer like that.

Am I missing something? Why does anyone think that was the last episode, it's only the end of the first half of the season. SouthParkStudios says the season resumes in October. Now whether it's the last season...

I really hope Stan's parents seperate for at least a few episodes. Randy would be so funny as a bachelor. I thought the Lord of the Rings, internet crashes, and the medicinal marijuana episodes were great. This would allow them to probably do more funny things with him that involve porn, drugs, alcohol, and sex since he wouldn't have a wife telling him what to do. They could make fun of internet dating with this divorce and maybe add some new characters to the show through these relationships.

So this means you haven't seen the episode where Stan's parents separate?

Quote :
"FAT ABBOT: "Hey, hey, hey! Hey, Yolanda, why your eye all black and blue and shit?"
YOLANDA: "Man, Fat Abbot, my stepdad popped me in my eye."
FAT ABBOT: "Stepdad?! You gotta op his ass!"
YOLANDA: "Really?"
FAT ABBOT: "Yeah, bitch! Snatch his ass in a bear trap! Leave that fucker swinging from a tree so high, nobody finds him for days! Glack, glack, you know what I'm sayin'? Dumbass n*gga whore shit damn!"
YOLANDA: "You're right, Fat Abbot, thanks!"
FAT ABBOT: "No problem, ho. Maybe later you can suck my dick, bitch ho shit!"
BILL COSBY: "Well, Fat Abbot and the gang sure did learn something today. If you got a stepdad ridin' your ass,..."

I'm pretty sure the guys are just burned out... I mean putting on a broadway musical isn't exactly easy...

the good news is, they were burned out the season they did the SP movie, and they were burned out the season they did Team America... so I figure just let it ride and they'll be back in October for at least 7 more episodes. I wouldn't be shocked to see another season, though, fwiw.

Yeah, I'm scratching my head at this too. The show is not over, that's pretty fucking obvious. How did it take up a whole page of discussion?

Last episode was incredibly fucking depressing. It resonated with me a lot, which is not a feeling I normally get from South Park. Pretty scary.

I think people need to realize too that its not just two guys working on this, they've got a whole staff of writers, animators, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if on a lot of episodes they don't do really any writing just the recording of the voices.

It also depressed me as well. I am glad I am not the only one who felt that way. I think part of it was because I read what people were saying about this possibly being the last episode prior to watching it, and thinking that the show might actually end that way.

I think in general the episode kind of sucked.... at least for me the music part and shit coming out of everything just got old.
