I think the swallowing of the wedding ring pales in comparison to the fact that SHE SLEPT WITH HIM ON THE COUCH.

[Edited on June 16, 2011 at 2:51 PM. Reason : FOUR pages of "he's a bad guy" testimony. Little to connect to the murder.]

Shoe girl from the SBI finished her testimony, both left and right bloody shoeprints from both the franklin and hushpuppie shoes were found at the scene.

HNIC of the hushpuppie shoe company testified that the "orbital" shoe was ONLY sold to DSW retail stores. I was waiting for the defense atty to get up on cross and ask how many pairs of size 12 orbital hushpuppies were sold in the US but he never did. (or i didnt hear it)

Now one of JY's childhood friends is on the stand, who now lives in MT... came to Raleigh for a conference or class and stayed at jason and michelles house not long before she was killed. The first night she is there they are drinking and she falls asleep on the couch- jason young draws on her face with a fucking sharpie. Next night, drinking again and they have sex (no idea where his wife is, they didnt cover that) the next night, he swallows her wedding ring and she does not get it back till the next morning.

Also apparantly another JY ex testified at length yesterday how he attacked her violently once upon a time when they were engaged.

Yeah, I wasn't impressed with the defense cross on that-- "He was really drunk, right?"

But, I don't think "attacked violently" is really fair. I mean, he was awful to her, but he threw her on the bed right? Held her down, and yelled at her? It's not like he beat her. I'm not condoning it (and I don't accept the drunk excuse), but it's not as bad as the words "attacked violently" sounds.

Well we had a water leak behind a wall yesterday afternoon so I missed the actual testimony of his ex fiance. I am ashamed to admit I relied on the WRAL article for those details.

Quote :
""He was throwing me from one bed to the other," Genevieve Cargol said. "He was jumping on me with all his weight, so hard that I felt like my arms were going to come out of the sockets of my shoulder."

Cargol said Jason Young also pinned her arms behind her back while jumping on top of her and that at many points during the struggle, the two were face-to-face.

"His eyes were glazed over, and he didn't show any emotion," she said.

Two weeks later, Cargol said, she broke off the engagement but the two remained friends. About a year later, she moved away and cut off all communication with him, even going as far as to block him from sending her any emails."

Quote :
"Cargol, who met Jason Young in 1995 at North Carolina State University, testified that the altercation happened in 1999 when she confronted him about getting drunk at a lunch.

"He became agitated with me," she said. "He said something to the effect, 'If I'm going to make such a terrible husband, give me my ring back.'"

"I was screaming and yelling for him to get off of me," she added. "I was very upset."

Eventually, Cargol said, he pulled the ring, which was too small for her finger, off her finger, leaving her with a cut, bruises on her arms and rib cage."

I mean, thats enough that he could have been charged with assault on a female at the time.

I haven't followed this trial at all- will read the thread soon- but is this guy really rich? judging from the woman above and the 15.5 million law suit I would assume so. what did he do for a living?

also, maybe the girl shouldn't have "confronted" a grown ass man about getting drunk at lunch. seems to me like they are both better off.

Who is the lady on the stand right now?

He is a real douchebag. If your fiance has to tell you that you drink too much during lunch, you have issues.

I agree--it was a shitty thing to do, and reason enough for anyone to leave a relationship. I just wouldn't make the leap that someone who does that once is also capable of murder (which is what I believe the purpose of the testimony was).

Big difference between holding someone forcibly on the bed (even if it had some bruises), and bludgeoning someone 30+ times in the head.

^^I think Momma Fisher is on the stand right now (Michelle's mother).

why is she a girl while he is a grown ass man? that grown ass man should know better than to chug beer after beer and go shot for shot when he promised his fiance he would watch his drinking that weekend. so because she had the gall, really WHAT NERVE, to bring up that agreement, she deserved to be assaulted and have her ring ripped off her finger? VICTIM BLAMING IS NOT COOL, DUDE.

anyways, can't wait for the defense's trial. as of now i say guilty as hell.

Yeah, but the witness said "a man with just a little bit of hair, slightly taller than me." She's 5'0". He's over 6' tall, and lots of blond hair... so I'm not sure how well I believe that.

Shes a girl because of your obvious immaturity. Whining at someone just because he chose to do something other than what she wanted him to do? How self-centered can of person be? He is a grown ass man because he has a job, has a job, handles his life the way he wants and respects others to do the same. Its a shame she couldn't show that same maturity.

As for victim blaming, some times people deserve what people have coming to them. Some times people are asking for it. If a guy comes in and hits my car with a baseball bat then I beat the snot out of him, its okay to say he got what was coming to him. While I'm not saying that is the case in this scenario, we are only hearing her version of it, which is undoubtedly biased.

does not compute. she had expectations of her fiance, and rightfully so, that were expressed to and agreed upon by him. i do agree her testimony was biased, but jason young has a long history of being a drunk asshole. idk but i think part of maturity and being a grown ass man is growing out of frat boy antics.

He's not all that tall, and he used to keep his hair much shorter. He grew it out after the shit went down, and has sharper facial features now. (from stress/not eating/something else)

Not saying that lady wasn't wrong, but usually you stand on a slightly raised surface at a gas station, he could have been leaning down, and that gets the difference to "slightly taller" pretty easily.

The defense asked her "Was he bald, have a little bit of hair?"
to which she replied "a little bit of hair."
Of the two choices she was given, little bit of hair was the correct response to match the defendant. His hair is light colored & was very short at the time of the murder.

The defense asked her if she could remember how tall he was and she said no. Then he pressed with was he a little taller than you to which she said yes. She never said how much taller.

Yes, he was taller than her, and yes, he had more hair than a bald guy but less hair than many people. A think "a little bit" is very subject to interpretation here.

She seemed certain it was him, remembered his face because of the confrontation where he cursed at her and threw money at her, and she positively ID'ed also his vehicle, which she likely took a good look at when he kept trying to pump without paying first and then again as he drove away after cursing her out and then leaving without getting his change. She did NOT follow Raleigh news and did NOT know why they were looking for him even a YEAR after the crime.

It was him at that gas station that morning.

Oh, and he also tracked blood around the house after the murder with shoes he bought on his rewards card, then those shoes mysteriously disappeared (although they found at least one pair of other shoes he bought that same day.) He replaced the shoes he used for the murder on Nov. 7th, four days after he killed her, with a pair that look almost exactly like the pair he used to murder her (different brand, but same style leather men's casual slip on.) Police photographed him when they hauled him in that day. The other sets of shoe tracks is a ruse (and perhaps why his feet looked beat up.) I don't believe he had an accomplice; I do believe he'd seen an episode or two or CSI.

Also, even though they immediately searched his vehicle and luggage, they never found ANY of the clothes he was filmed wearing when he left the hotel that evening, supposedly to go out and smoke but now we've learned that the smell of smoke "disgusted him" and he even stipulated in the custody agreement with her sister that she couldn't smoke in the daughter's presence.

Yes, he is a loser. Yes, he is a murderer.

He was so drunk that he passed out in the middle of the day on what was supposed to be a vacation for them. She had a right to ask him about it. I think she even had a right to bitch him out about it, but I don't think she did that. In any event, nothing excuses the behavior of a man who physically attacks a woman.

If a little child spit on you, would you be justified in beating the tar out of them? Would you be justified in even doing something that only left a "minor" mark, like maybe a few bruises. No, you would not. That would be called child abuse. Same thing goes for women, Geppetto. I'm really sorry that this was not explained to you in precise detail during your upbringing and that I am having to explain it to you now.

Yes, you are right. Sorry about that, but I get riled up any time someone tries to say that a man was justified in physically injuring a woman (for any reason other than self defense.)

I will relax, now, having said what I think about that.

Maybe the defense will change my mind, but it's not looking good for JLY.

I can't imagine anyone else actually thinks like that. And I think he's being facetious (at least I hope so). I agree, it doesn't look great for Jason. I hope the defense has something great up their sleeves if he's innocent. I am not convinced he's guilty, but the prosecution isn't done yet. I am convinced he's an asshole who didn't deserve the wonderful person his wife seemed to be.

^I forgive Sean Connery for his obviously errant opinion because

1) he has a cool accent
2) he used to be hot
3) he has total eyebrow control (TEC.)

Anyone with TEC likely uses that to his advantage and has never had to slap a woman (even though he erroneously thinks it might be justified at some point.)

Jason young, on the other hand
1) sounds like a red neck (I think; he won't talk to anyone, so who knows?)
2) never was hot
3) has no visible eyebrows, so therefore cannot demonstrate TEC.

despite the fact that copious amounts of circumstantial evidence, as are present in this case, are a part of the pattern jury instruction? the jury can give equal weight to both direct and circumstantial evidence, and there is A LOT of circumstantial evidence. (check NC-PJI 104.05)

i agree that it's not an air tight case, but there are never many of those in murder trials unless it's on Law & Order.

i could see rationale for the jury's decision to go either way, but i'm thinking they convict him unless the PD's office has some tricks up their sleeves. we'll know next week.

^My standard is the same if the woman can obviously easily best him. Same would be true for an able bodied person attacking someone in a wheelchair or an elderly person or something like that. I understand where you are coming from, but I don't have a double standard. In fact, I feel the same way about a big, martial arts trained guy attacking a much smaller, non-athletic guy. To use a cliche, pick on someone your own size, and average man is bigger than average woman. Don't attack someone who's not physically your equal.

He was much bigger than her. You do know she had a fractured skull, broken jaw, and missing teeth, right? Over 30 blows were inflicted.

When he had attacked his fiance years earlier, the defense excuse was that he was drunk. Sorry, but that's just not acceptable.

I've definitely met women that deserved to get slapped for their behavior. Having tits shouldn't be a free pass to be an utterly evil cunt without consequences.

Now bashing a woman's head in until it's a bloody pulp definitely crosses the line of slapping

There is something else I noticed that I want to point out. Obviously there isn't a dedicated camera on JY during the whole trial, but several times, when there has been a witness on the stand, especially a witness testifying to evidence that contradicts JY's version of what he did that night, the camera will pan over to him and he is blinking uncontrollably. When they show him while someone is giving testimony about his character, or how he acts, then he appears normal. If I have been able to notice this and I haven't been watching all the testimony, then I would bet the jury has seen it as well.
