i stopped posting in the other thread when two users involved in the situation pm'd me and said it hurt them to see the thread at the top. i responded asking if they had pm'd anyone asking to have it removed and their response was that the best way to see something die is to stop posting. i respected their opinion, however at this time i would like to point to that thread as evidence of this not working.

its similar to when salisburboy was posting terrible, anti-semetic bullshit in the soapbox. the defense used by moderators for why the refused to step in was that if people wanted it gone they could just refrain from posting in it. this clearly is not effective. in that case it set off a few annoying users fucking up the soap box with cheese for months before it ended, are we waiting for something similar here?

further, the defense that "well people will be mad either way" is a terrible response and goes to ken's lack of compassion. so if people are going to be mad either way, which way is better? people being mad because something was removed that was hurting multiple users who you profit from, or people being mad because you removed something to protect multiple users. hmmm... seems like an easy choice to me.

Do you think that people would magically stop talking about it? What if it spills over into other threads? or the chatterbox? Should those users then be suspended for talking about things that aren't allowed to be talked about on TWW? Where do you draw the line?

Yes, TWW mods have always been rather hands off except in extreme circumstances. For everyone whining about getting the thread deleted, I'd be interested to hear the rest of your plan for "containing the situation".

I think the mods have tried their best to make the best out of a shitty situation. And really anybody that thinks otherwise is just pissed off because the situation didn't end in a live webcast of somebody offing themselves.

i understand that ken was probably asleep when it went down, but other mods could have deleted the btt posts of the thread early on when they were asked and a lot of it could have been avoided. for one, most of us can not even read the chatterbox so we have never seen it also many were simply not online at the time. if other threads spring up, delete em.
