I don't know why most people go, unless their parents are rich or they major in engineering... Definitely a different world than 10 years ago.

... And then you have the whole student loan thing people say is going to be the next bubble to burst 7/27/2011 4:58:57 PM |

I don't know how anyone could claim to know which bubble is going to blow next; there's so many at this point that it's impossible to know which plank will give out and when.
There certainly is a student loan bubble, though. Loans are too accessible, it's causing tuition to soar and 18 year old kids just don't know what kind of commitment they're making. Think about it. You just graduated from high school. Everyone's going to college. You might have worked a part-time job, but you've never had to survive off your own paycheck. You have no point of reference, but you're going to take out 10k in debt to go to school.
Law school is especially bad. The majority of these people graduating now with 150k in debt are not going to be able to pay off their loans in a reasonable amount of time, if at all. As soon as the defaults start rolling in, the bubble's toast. 7/27/2011 5:46:02 PM |

yeah a lot of student loans are in deferment right now but that can't last forever. 7/27/2011 6:12:46 PM |
