^^^^ I know. We should let one player hold the entire team hostage until mid-July, just because he is talented. We shouldn't give a fuck how that makes the rest of the team feel or how it affects team unity and morale. Yep, we should just do nothing until July, have no game plan until July, or whenever a guy decides what he wants to do, just because that guy is good. Yep, that's a GREAT idea. 8/16/2011 11:46:38 PM |

Which, of course, is addressed by what is actually happening at Wisconsin. They took on all the supposed risks you faggots asserted, and it turns out that RW has already won their starting job, developed chemistry with their receivers, and is accepted as the team leader.
There is no doubt, here. Wisconsin is proving wrong all the idiotic assumptions our loser "fans" made. 8/17/2011 11:59:21 PM |

would you morons shut up about it already
this has nothing to do with holding the team hostage or any of that nonsense. tob made a simple decision. 2 year of glennon vs 1 of wilson. no surprise that he'd rather get twice as many games out of the guy he hand selected to be the QB from the day he started coaching here.
this "creativity, middle manager" junk is even more ridiculous because it takes massive balls to go with an unknown over an establishment like RW knowing it'll be your ass if it doesnt work out 8/18/2011 12:09:27 AM |

RW and his situation are a good fit for UW this year. His situation will likely do no damage to their future chemistry and recruiting efforts. TOB judged that with State (a very different situation indeed!) the best option for the future of the program was to go with Glennon. Surely you realize this, skoiananana and are just trolling our pants off. 8/18/2011 12:09:58 AM |

The excuses why RW should not have been allowed to swoop in during the fall are complete bullshit. New receivers (as is the case at Wisconsin)? Take extra time after practice to work on it. Earning respect of teammates? Winning earns respect. Demonstrating that you are better than the backup (Glennon or the Wisconsin QB) earns respect. Performance earns far more respect than hanging out.
The people who bring up these BS excuses are the types who foolishly limit their options by approaching everything as black and white. People who are actually successful look for creative ways to solve problems and maximize the talent at their disposal.
TOB was a middle manager and a process drone in the military, and he takes that same approach to running a FB team. Creativity doesn't come into play. That poor leadership will never achieve at the highest levels." |
Great post. Wisconsin's coach is a proven winner. If the assertion made here were correct, then RW would have went and played at UNLV or some sub major team. Instead, he moved up. Now if Wisconsin, loses a bunch of games this year then these people are correct, but I doubt that.8/18/2011 1:07:08 AM |

Feel-good article about Russell's decision making process and reasons why he chose Wisconsin.
Quote : | ""I prayed a lot about it every day and kept going back and forth, and the Lord just came to me," said Wilson, who briefly played minor league baseball with the Asheville (N.C.) Tourists, a Colorado Rockies' Class A affiliate.
"I really realized that I need to do this -- give myself an opportunity to play in the NFL -– and go back and play football. It's a realistic opportunity for me and I didn't want to give up on that."" |
How can you fault the guy for wanting to take advantage of every opportunity to realize his dream of playing two sports professionally, regardless of how low the probability?
I still think both parties made the correct decision for them and have nothing but respect for each. I hope RW excels at Wisconsin. The burning question if he makes it to the NFL is what school will he mention on his SNF/MNF pre-game intro? 8/19/2011 9:16:08 AM |

Drew Brees Michael Vick
also, NFL offensive lines are usually better than the ones we've put on the field. Also, I don't know why people criticize his arm strength. It's plenty strong.8/19/2011 1:31:57 PM |

Vick is much faster/more elusive than RW and Brees is a much better passer than RW. Russell's gonna be great at Wisconsin, I have no doubt of that. But I don't see it translating to the NFL.

Precisely. Wisconsin is a great fit for him this year because their running game is their strength. They just needed a QB that wouldn't fuck it up. They will not be relying on him as heavily as we rely on our QB. Therefore for both State and RW, the best thing for both is what has played out. I will still think the same if we lose every game this season. The only problem I have with all this is the total douchebag RW turned into after the release went down. I lost a lot of respect for him due to his comments and behavior after the fact. And I just watched the Vtech game from last year that I previously missed....nice going RW. 8/20/2011 6:16:52 AM |

Russell Wilson with 1 month of practice and 3 seasons of starting experience is better than some guy with 2 years of scout team experience. That's the fucking bottom line.
Glennon can have all the spring practice and summer practice with the team and receivers he wants. He would not have beaten out Wilson in an open competition in the fall. He hasn't ever come close to beating Wilson.
Requiring Wilson to be at spring practice (unlike the year before) was TOB's bureaucratic way of being a little bitch. He knew that if he let RW have an open competition in the fall, RW would have won the job because he knows that someone with experience can pick up and lead a new task much, much faster than someone without experience. Wilson is proving that right now on a different team.
But as a bureaucrat, TOB hates when people succeed by sidestepping the in-place processes. To a bureaucrat, process is more important than results. 8/20/2011 9:10:17 AM |

^^Pretty sure TOB knew Glennon would transfer so it was a question of value. Russell attending all practices > Glennon for two years but Wilson continuing to not get any better year to year wasn't better than two years of Glennon. It's not hard to figure out. 8/20/2011 9:35:02 AM |
