It’s not new...it came out last year, but I’m just starting Moonrise. It’s from the Washington Post and is the story of the US landing on the moon and the events that led up to it. It’s like 12 episodes, 30ish mins each. So should be a quick listen. I’ve only listened to one episode so far.Slow Burn by Slate is really good. Season 1 was about Watergate. Season 2 was about Clinton/Lewinsky. Season was BIG/Tupac. Season 3 was my favorites so far. But they’ve all been really good imo [Edited on March 14, 2020 at 8:31 AM. Reason : A]

The History of English is great. Pretty dry, but several times an episode there's some mind blowing trivia. If you start at the beginning it goes as far back as the proto-Indo-European language that existed in the fifth millennia BC.

I generally don't like the podcast format.

I'd have to look, but I believe you mentioned how audiobooks aren't your cup of tea either. Perhaps for the same reason? I'd rather listen to something and be able to continue with what I am doing than to be required to watch etc.

There are only a subset of things I can do whilst zoning out mentally or focusing on something else.Even listening to music. In school I could do math and engineering homework with the TV on or with musical accompaniment, but not anything that required compositional writing. But specific to podcasts, most of the hosts I have heard annoy me a lot. They drag stuff out and try to make it more interesting than it is. They are sycophantic. There are too many ads. I just don't enjoy it, with a few exceptions which don't fit the mold. These are the only kinds of ads that I find acceptable:

I used to listen to his, he had Jim Carrey on once. Used to listen to Ron Burgandy podcast. Not a fan of the bro podcasts.(Theo Vonn, who I still don't know why he's popular, Rogan who I guess is better than Vonn, etc) Need to get on that Chuck Toddcast. I think a user(FroshKiller) here had one but stopped after covid. I think I listened to 2 episodes.
