"Complaining" to him is better than complaining on here because it stands to possibly change things instead of perpetuating your "I wish he'd know what I want or am upset about without me having to tell him" stance.

And smacking ... not OK, regardless of your justification.

^ That's kinda lame, especially if it was just on the arm.

i would not put up with a girl hitting me... simply because I refuse to hit her back/hit her in the first place. the playful slap on the arm or poking at the ribcage is one thing, but if I got slapped in the face, there would be some serious words

Hitting is bad. Shaking the shit out of them is okay.

If there is anything beyond a playful slap on the arm or whatever going on in a relationship it is time to reevaluate. I once attempted to slap my bf while drunk and angry. I was rightfully almost broken up with and had a very strong serious lecture which I needed about how fucked up that is. It was terrible. Took awhile to work things out. No hitting is a pretty good rel policy

But I'm not kidding. One of the most fucked up things I've ever done. Lots of dram. And I skinned my knee that night too.

As the ex-boyfriend that Meg hit, I am now prepared to apologize. Also, the makeup sex was phenomenal

I had a friend who was hit by his girlfriend all the time over just normal argument shit. Dumb bitch...course he never really did anything to correct it.

Their later epic breakup and burn out was rather comical though

I had a gf that would hit me in the arm if I said retarded. She worked with special needs adults. I made sure the first time I dropped the r-bomb was when I said "her roommate's tits were retarded." Seriously they are the size of bowling balls and she is a small girl. Her other roommate has rocking tits too.

nothing quite to that extreme but he definitely makes jokes that I don't get and then when i don't laugh or react he just shakes his head and goes "some day you'll get my humor"

......... doubtful

Welp, the other one got bumped.

[This is the long background part]
[When I suggest we go do something (and it's not an immediate response of "I'm busy"), he says to add it to his google calendar. For a bit that worked, it was an easy way to let me say "hey, this is happening, don't schedule anything over it."
Well, I planned something for this week over a month in advance, he bailed last time so when I set this up he promised.
Then I find out the day before he actually can't, he scheduled something over it without checking his calendar.

tl;dr:
I understand completely how busy he is, and the fact that he had to work I can deal with, it's not really the fact that he bailed again that bothered me as much, it's that he assured me that if I put something on his calendar and he approves it, he won't schedule anything over it, and he did.

And a question to men:
He won't let me take him out to dinner, it bothers him when he can't pay, so we just don't go on dates. Is it really a dis if your girlfriend wants to take you on a date?

can i give you a 100% honest answer here...

everything you just typed about your man suggests he's just fucking you and not dating you...only you don't know it...

that's definitely not a slight towards you...

so...what i'm saying is...that dude's a douche bag....

[Edited on September 3, 2011 at 7:05 PM. Reason : you shouldn't have to get "approval" to see your man...it's not like asking a day off from work]

Thank you, LP78, for listening to me.

When I said "approve", I mean when I send an invite to an event and he accepts instead of saying maybe. And yeah, in some cases it is asking a day off work. He works a part time job as well, so it would be telling them he can't work two weeks from now instead of checking his calendar first (which he now says he does only a day in advance). Also, this isn't me getting to see him, I get to see him plenty, but it's usually at a point where we're both exhausted, so we'll make something quick for dinner and watch tv for a bit before going to bed.
Things I put on his calendar are things like concerts or this time it was First Friday. He doesn't schedule other things on top of it, but he doesn't check his calendar when his part time job assigns him things.

To sum it up, he didn't check his schedule with me before letting work for his part time job be assigned to him.

I always rant too much in this thread instead of putting a one sentence description of why I'm a little annoyed.
