First episode-last season, he murders a guy in the bathroom with an anchor (pissed off because the guy says something about dead Rita). Harry tells him that he is finally acting human.

the brian stabbing/dexter stabbing shot was pretty great.
so hmmm, maybe Geller is real after the whore incident. She didn't exactly use definitive language, like she didn't claim hearing Geller speak or anything, but hmmm.

This episode only affirmed my belief that Gellar is in the dude's head. Too many parallels slapping me in the face. Like the fact that Brian is obviously dead, and yet Dexter sees him constantly (not even like the sporadic Harry visions). A couple instances (including the pitchfork scene) where Brian "interacted" with the real world like we see Gellar doing in his prep work. 11/14/2011 2:03:00 PM |

And "NEXT WEEK ON DEXTER" SPOILERS:
In the "next week on dexter" preview, dexter says something like "He has a dark passenger too, only his can be killed."
Don't know if he's just guessing or if he sees Geller.

I think they made it seem so obvious he was fake early on and by bringing back Brian to draw a parallel so we'd be surprised to find out he was actually real. 11/15/2011 8:51:50 AM |

storyline might start to get stale
but i think they've done a good job this season, even though they've had to rely a little bit on past characters
but ultimately i'd rather have them renew for a couple seasons, knowing in all likelihood Dexter will remain out of prison and off the radar, than have them not renew, and us go ahead and speculate about how it will all end for our protagonist 11/19/2011 10:43:34 AM |

I like speculating about the show which is why it sucks now and why it's been in a decline for a while. It's formulaic and if you're worried it might get stale, why would you prefer to know it'll be another two years of the same stuff?
Something major needs to happen for the last few seasons to be interesting, like Deb finding out. 11/19/2011 12:04:06 PM |

I don't get it. Unless they say "the series will end in 2 seasons, and that's final", renewing is simply delaying the thing you want to avoid, not changing it. They need to know it's going to end for the writers to have any sort of conclusion.
Personally, I'm not sure I would even want them to know it's going to end. How many big shows have had successful finales? I can only think of one (maybe two) ways in which the last season could go which I'd be happy with it. A lot of intended finales are kind of stupid and can't possibly "wrap up" a show that has been on for 5 or 6 years.
The show is formulaic ("monster" of the season combined with "killer" of every 2-3 episodes). And character growth has not been extensive. I do still enjoy it, but I'm not quite as interested as I was a few seasons ago. I watch because I have time invested and want to know where it goes, and it's it's not as enjoyable as it once was for me, it's still not bad by any means.11/19/2011 2:33:47 PM |
TreeTwista10 minisoldr 148442 Posts user info edit post |
I dunno, I still enjoy each show. From watching the show over the last 5+ seasons, you kind of grow accustomed to Dexter always getting out of any jam he gets into, so you as a viewer innately learn to assume that Dexter will never get caught. So I think we all have that viewpoint to an extent just from seeing him get out of any predicament thats been thrown at him.
But it sounds like the most disappointing "spoiler" ITT is the fact that the show has been renewed for 2 more seasons. 11/19/2011 3:07:07 PM |

some good foreshadowing that if deb does find out she will think dexter is going to silence and kill her from her conversation with travis' sister, unless she thinks gellar and not travis did it, and until she finds out they are one and the same 11/21/2011 9:59:14 AM |

According to Deadline, Showtime had offered M.C.H. $20 million for two more seasons, but the star wanted $24 million. No word yet on what number they reached, but thankfully they were able to iron out the details.
Man, considering giving up the chance to make $20 million in two years for an extra $4 million. I was surprised to see he made that much for a showtime show. 11/21/2011 1:48:54 PM |

I think Deb will find out this season. I think it's time. If they wait any longer then Deb is going to stop trusting her brother and start questioning him, and she'll eventually grow suspicious. If she doesn't find out this season, then they'll wait until the very last season for her to find out and once she does she'll either kill him or throw him in jail.

i dont know how a suicide would go over with the audience
clearly deb loves harrison and has said that he is her family and would take care of him but deb is also unstable emotionally and i wouldn't like seeing the show end with her caring for harrison and dexter dead
we had an ice truck killer and trinity camo... i wonder if the step kids will make another cameo. honestly i could do without seeing them again and think they pretty much wrapped that up. 11/22/2011 6:19:13 PM |

^^ yeah, my wife mentioned that to me when I proposed the idea the other night. Well, maybe he'll accidentally kill somebody like Deb or something that really hits him hard, I dunno.
I just can't see it ending with him sitting in a jail. A happily ever after ending would feel so out of place too.
