As someone that grew up on punk/hardcore/metal, I just can't deal with the slow/sappy/sentimental shit. It bums me out.

that is my experience pretty much every time i listen to 88.1. The other night I turned to it and it had some 30s-era hobo song playing, sounded like it was recorded on a tin can

That sounds like the country show.

Which is awesome.

I used to wake up early on Fridays just to listen to DJ Gonzo. I mean, specifically got up at 5 o'something so I could listen to the radio. That kind of shit has been gone for a while.

I only listen to the radio in my car and 96.1 is starting to repeat the same songs over and over and over again. I don't understand why stations do this with their classic rock music from the 70s and 80s.

Music was tough in the 70's. The industry was actually only able to produce about 50 songs per year back then; that's why stations with classic rock formats keep repeating like that.

Pretty sure the music industry just recorded people with talent back in the day. Now, they'll record anyone who hopefully won't lose them money.

Dont blame the station, blame the last decade of inferior music.

If music hadn't died they could still play current music today.
