The last few quarters, the gap between analyst estimates, apple's own projections, and whisper numbers has grown considerably. So far, they've exceeded even that, but I suspect that even if they exceed their own and analyst's targets, but don't meet whisper numbers there will be a big sell off/profit taking/chicken little/whatever.

that would be a great time to buy in. That could happen by the next earnings call. I dunno. I might do a little profit taking between now and then.

I've got a whole bunch of money set aside for the FB IPO.

In the mean time, where can I put it (for a month or two) so it's not just sitting in cash in my trading account?

Anyone playing with LGF?

Technicals look good, despite the runup over the past 3 months. I may do a buy-write on a batch.

Set up a huge naked put on FAS at 3:55 when it was 97.15 with a strike price of 97. Five tense minutes later I've got some cash for the weekend.

Between the economy deteriorating and the European and Japanese bust accelerating this is getting scary.

Looks like reality is setting in even on AAPL. the market can't press on without apple, its just too big now . Physically and psychologically.

Lot of hot money in apple, the swings could be crazy if this is the beginning

face is not a troll.

the opinions he espouses are an important share of voice. Europe is in trouble -- just how it will all unfold is unclear. Japan is still stuck in its long term deflationary cycle.

now, we can look at all that and say "risk off", or we can look at how confidently companies such as Caterpillar and Fluor are forecasting growth and say, "as long as the world doesn't end, there's money to be made". it takes a collection of voices to make a market.

i can't help but think everything we're seeing now is part of a long term revaluation of "civilization premiums". is one US Dollar worth of good or service really worth 50 Rupees of Indian goods or services, or is it worth 7 Chinese Yuan? the long term balancing/price discovery of what its worth for people to get up and go to work to produce a good or service, is as certain as polar shifts, solar flare cycles, climate change, and the waxing and waning of wild ungulate populations. its up to us to learn/try to game it and see if we can make a buck or two.

yeah, and he's not the first to use scare tactics to sell seminar tickets to people like you.

if he's such an investment genius then why is he pissing away his time selling tickets and CDs of his seminar?

Im going to buy some but not a lot prob about $5k and i doubt it will be the first day it opens.

It just seems like one of those stocks that is going to be going up 1.5-2% everyday for a long time after the initial crazy swings.

There's not a ton of downside early because the stock is years away from trading on any sort of fundamentals. This is a MOMO heaven stock.

anybody think that there's really even a chance for nobodies like us to buy FB on the IPO, or will we have to buy on the open market if we want it?

I'm primarily interested at the moment in just making a quick buck on the initial pop.
