Isn't there some clause that UNCC has to keep paying Lutz through next season IF he doesn't take a head-coaching job elsewhere? Seems like I read that somewhere.
If so, staying here through next season seems like a no-brainer move. Two schools paying you six figures each ... not too bad. 3/28/2012 11:39:53 AM |

I'm pretty sure I read at some point that he was on a 2 year contract anyway, I'm assuming that after those 2 years the rest of his UNCC contract is up and it would make sense for him to look for a HC job that point. 3/28/2012 1:20:58 PM |
DalesDeadBug In Pressed Silk 2978 Posts user info edit post |
i may be wrong but i thought that UNCC was only responsible for the difference in the contract, i.e. if he is owed $1 million by UNCC and we pay him $300,000, UNCC only has to pay him $700,000. i don't think he's collecting full paychecks from both. 3/28/2012 1:27:46 PM |

Looks like Marshall, Barnes and Henson are entering NBA Draft this year so an ACC trophy could possibly happen for NCSU next year (depending on the other teams of course). 3/28/2012 1:50:09 PM |

^^^Nope, the goal is to win and win quickly. I don't think there is a single person in this class of freshmen that could come in and replace Leslie for us next year. I could be proven wrong if there was a top 5 recruit coming in but that point is moot since we don't have anyone like that coming into the program.
If Leslie stays, we could make a lot of noise for this program next year and he will have served his purpose (in the grand scheme of things, that is), and he can move on to the NBA. Then recruiting top level talent just becomes that much easier and it snowballs from there.

Latest on NBA Decisions Multiple sources report that Harrison Barnes, John Henson and Kendall Marshall have met with Roy Williams and intend to enter the NBA Draft. Barring a last minute change of heart, a press release is expected soon. The initial intel immediately following UNCs NCAA Tournament run pointed strongly to James Michael McAdoo returning for his sophomore season, but while the information concerning Barnes, Henson and Marshall has been straightforward, the intel surrounding McAdoo's situation has become incredibly fluid in the last couple days. My way too early Top 25
1. Louisville 2. Michigan State 3. Syracuse 4. Kentucky 5. Indiana 6. Georgetown 7. North Carolina State (optimism much?) 8. Michigan 9. Kansas 10. Florida 11. San Diego State 12. Duke 13. Kansas 14. Ohio State 15. Baylor 16. UNLV 17. UNC 18. Creighton 19. FSU 20. Vanderbilt 21. Gonzaga 22. Cincinnati 23. Wisconsin 24. Temple 25. Maryland
Obviously this will change based on who stays, who goes, and who commits where. If Shabazz Muhammad goes to UCLA, then they vault well into the Top 25. Dude is just that good. 4/3/2012 1:15:24 AM |

North Carolina and Duke are taking on serious losses, and the Wolfpack overachieved under Mark Gottfried (and top assistant Bobby Lutz) to get to the Sweet 16. If the Wolfpack don't get too giddy about leaving (will C.J. Leslie remain?), they should be the favorite in the conference. Gottfried has one of the top recruiting classes in the country with Rodney Purvis, T.J. Warren and Tyler Lewis. So get ready, Raleigh. You might just have the ACC favorite." |

while i think we could be the top ACC team, I don't know that it would make us a top 10 team. the ACC was not too great this year and lost a lot of talent. next year i would think it should be weaker. 4/3/2012 3:26:12 AM |

With leslie, we have as much talent and experience as any of the other top 10 contenders.
The only thing that differentiates us is a recent culture of being losers and any Gottfried coaching limitations (bad end game plays, benching good players, etc).

Who's the player most likely to make a stupid comment about our season next year? 1) Wood 2) Howell 3) CJL 4) Brown 5) The Freshmen 6) Vandy, TDT, Harris or Raymond because no one will interview these guys. 4/3/2012 4:09:52 AM |

I think the ACC will be weaker at the top due to the losses Duke and UNC have, but I think the ACC as a whole will be stronger. The bottom teams like BC and GT will be more experienced, same goes for some of the teams like Maryland.4/3/2012 8:03:42 AM |
