^^ What the hell are you rambling about?
Howard's WP/48 was .240 level. Which is just between superstar and superduperstar. And he was hurt all year.
Bismack WP/48 was .05 level. Which means he's a below average center. Like a decent backup. 5/2/2012 12:26:02 AM |

no griffin is WAY better than stoudamire and westbrook, dont be ridiculous.
Chandler wasnt healthy in charlotte moron.
Funny, the mavs won a title with him and barely made the playoffs without him.
Yet if they benched dirk for brandan wright they'd be better.
Weird how that works. 5/2/2012 12:27:51 AM |

bismack shattered howard's rookie season blocks/48, but since the bobcats as a team only won 7 games, wp48 is gonna be terrible for every player on the team, even decent players like bismack, henderson and augustin, rendering that a completely useless stat for anyone who follows sports, case closed 5/2/2012 12:33:50 AM |

Harden-PG Westbrook-SG Stoudamire-SF Love-PF Duncan-C
Dirk- 6th man

Nothing you said here makes any sense.
WP/48 is based on individual contributions and is not based at all on your team.
The team was terrible because the individual players were terrible, not the other way around.

Salivating over a potential Lakers-OKC matchup.
The Lakers look weak but yet the average Joe still doesn't think it.
OKC has a barely passable frontcourt and you still have to worry about Westbrook and now apparently Durant is folding under pressure.
But the Lakers look weak and OKC is just ridiculously good and I bet OKC is only like -200 because of all the gay for Kobe fanboys out there. 5/2/2012 1:07:10 AM |

crazy seeing two people argue for a page by refuiting crazy shit with even crazier shit and using absurd reasoning to back up their arguments.
A 6 man is the best player in the league? Then why doesn't he start? Are all the coaches and GMs just idiots?
Westbrook Kobe Durant Dirk Duncan
none of those guys are top 100 players?
Imagine if teams went into games planning to shutdown Harden and didn't worry about Durant or Westbrook. No team does that. Harden is the 3rd option and he is the 3rd priority for the opposing team to stop. This is why he gets to go against easier defender or tired defenders that westbrook and durant have worn down.
He catches the ball open and gets closed out on out of position or gets the ball against a the other team's worst defender and isos. Harden is a good player. Starting quality and will probably be a star in a few years but right now he's the 3rd best player on his team, not in the NBA.

^ will completely agree with that
^^ and i agree that these new-fangled sabertooth tiger metrics don't tell the whole story, for many of the reasons you list. it's hard to quantify quality of defender someone's facing, opposing team's defensive strategy, quality of offensive player one is defending (and thus spending a ton of energy on defense), etc to truly tease out who's better than whom. now, i think it's definitely useful for making some specific comparisons of comparable players (such as biyambo and faried), and provides more insight into a player's true value than we've had in the past, but still needs to be calibrated to an extent. 5/2/2012 8:52:27 AM |

^^^^ Dirk submarined the Mavericks in Game 1. If you can't understand that, then there's no point in debating with you. If he hadn't turned the ball over 6 times (and twice in the last 1:30) the Mavs win that game. Oh yeah and no one wants a freaking PF who can't rebound.

I'm kind of worried about his hand laceration, cuz it sure does sound bad.
The hand is one of the worst places to get cut, because not only can you suffer severe bleeding, it is highly likely that you will cut a nerve and have permanent damage and mobility problems. I would not be shocked at all if his hurt hand doesn't get back to his full mobility.

Had a friend shove a broken wine bottle through his hand, severing tons of nerves. Was fucking gross.
He fully recovered, but it did take him a little while.

I'm making it a point not to watch one second of this Indy/Magic series. Its just such a fecal exhibition of basketball whose only purpose is to serve up fodder for Miami's inevitable second round slaughter. Indy is like Atlanta in that they have a bunch of good player, but no one who can really take over. But hey, at least they not paying Danny Granger nine figures. 5/2/2012 8:13:20 PM |

This is just blasphemy. Did you not watch last year's playoffs? The game is not played in a vacuum dude. If it wasn't for Dirk, they wouldn't have even been in game 1. You can't just say his 6 turnovers cost them the game because if he didn't have them and if he got a bunch of rebounds he would be the best player ever. Kind of like how Westbrook would be the best player ever if he took only good shots and got a bunch of assists. You are critical on the weaknesses of these players and overlook their unique strengths. Dirk gives everybody hell and theres no way dallas would be a playoff team without him.5/2/2012 8:14:14 PM |

How hard is it to figure out that Tyson Chandler was the reason the Mavs won the title last year.
You take him off the team this year and the Mavs barely go .500
How many times in a row do these things have to happen before people are able to identify that this isn't random?
^ No, Brandan Wright has been a stud all year and Dirk has been washed up all season. So I'd suggest they do something crazy, like play their better players

Grizz are huge favorites tonight, what am I missing? Jordan, Paul, and Griffin all had bad games in game 1 and the Clippers still won. Plus losing Caron helps the Clippers. Hopefully, the Clippers know to give Reggie Evans a lot of minutes tonight, he's a big key to this series.
I realize Randolph was terrible and Gay/Mayo were bad and Gasol didn't really do anything special. But Conley was amazing, he will come back down some. I don't expect the Grizz to play a whole lot differently than that for the series, but I'd be surprised if the Clippers are that bad.
