Oh yeah forgot to quote that. No reason why they'd limit it on the PC. I know there's already people complaining about the sub-par graphics and older engine. Wonder why they couldn't optimize it to run at a decent fps on consoles.

Don't really care though. Not like I'm playing FO4 solely for the graphics.

Fallout 3 wasn't much of a "shooter" with that VATS system, that's a freeze time and dice roll element... which is fine for an RPG type game.

Mass Effect 1 was the last "RPG shooter" I played that I felt balanced both elements well. I'm not sure what the Destiny "gunplay" is so great? Can someone clarify why Destiny has good gunplay? I only played the demo for an hour and don't remember anything special.

Also... 30 fps...

Well after the Master Chief Collection scammed me into buying an Xbone, I thought giving the $400 netflix box a use besides gathering dust would be a good option.

played for only about 3 hours last night.

-enjoyed the intro
-it's really fun to be playing an open world game again. i love exploring as well as picking up anything and everything.
-the vats system is good
-gunplay outside of vats kinda sucks. doesn't help i just got done playing borderlands 2 though. forgetting this is more rpg than fps.
-the game seems slightly more difficult than fo3/nv. more enemy AI.

^It's an old dated engine. It's technically the same engine as Oblivion but with plenty of enhancements and mods.

yeah Nvidia was recommending a 980 TI for 2560 by 1440 and a 980 for 1080p. Seems like steep requirements for an older engine. I think Nvidia has a bunch of bells and whistles you can crank up.

So you've got a 2560 by 1440 144hz monitor? That's my next upgrade. Only running 1080p now but at 120hz.

Yeah, I've played for about 4-5 hours and only seen a few graphical bugs. Nothing game breaking.

Yeah haven't really run into any bugs after playing for 3-4 hours last night. Graphics are decent. They're not next gen or anything but no one was expecting that from FO4. So far the gameplay has been great.

--Also I have no fucking clue what I'm doing trying to build shit in Sanctuary. That completely baffled me.

Yeah, the town-building part could at least give you some kind of tutorial, tips, or something.
And the menu system when trying to do any crafting is dog shit. Having to hit some combination of tab/'E'/escape/enter to do anything, and then it changing depending on the menu.. it's just a horrible system. Hopefully they patch it/mods come out soon to fix it.

But overall, the game has been pretty fun so far. About what I expected gameplay and graphics wise. I have seen a few weird graphical glitches, but nothing game breaking.

I agree the building mode isn't really user friendly, but once you figure it out it is an awesome addition. I'm excited to see the next version of it if they include it in the next Elder Scrolls.

Started playing the day before the US launch using a VPN through New Zealand.

This game is ruining my life. Steam says I have played it 54 hours.

Probably the worst UI I've ever used in a game, everything is arduous. And there's zero help in learning how to do anything. Thank god for the Fallout4 subreddit, because things that should be super simple are like flying blind (mainly everything around settlements and people management).

On the plus side, combat is good, crafting is fun, the quests are actually a little varied, the locations are amazing, characters are interesting, and the game is actually fairly stable.

Bought a 980 Ti to play it on my 4k 42" monitor. Worth it, totally worth it. Graphics aren't amazing, but no jaggies and 60fps is suhweet at 4k.

i agree, all of the systems in the game are non-intuitive. but i guess that's a given in an RPG (the whole discovery aspect).

i felt like the early game was extremely slow upon leaving the vault. however once i did the police station mission i felt it led immediately to better weapons and much more enjoyable gameplay (without giving away any story spoilers).

Just an FYI don't try running this more than 60 fps as the game engine is tied to the frame rate of the game. I know this was a known in previous iterations of the engine but with more 120-144hz monitors these days if you try running it over 60hz the game will speed up. I initially ran it at 120hz to match my monitor and a lot of NPC dialog was overlapped, ghouls were crazy fast, essentially the whole game was sped up. So yeah unless Bethesda patches it keep it at 60.

I still think there's many improvements over Skyrim and Fallout 3 but yeah like Skyrim I'm hoping they start patching a lot of issues after complaints.

Overall though very fun and exiting although I've only gotten 8 hours in the last few days.

Also I started out playing it on an Xbox controller but quickly switched to a mouse/keyboard as I didn't always want to use VATS as my first character is a sniper. Much more enjoyable. Although I'm hearing people make some pretty sweet ninja builds where you can essentially swoop in and melee a bunch of enemies at once with the various perks.

Are you using the iOS Pip boy app? Makes a LOT of tasks a LOT easier. I pretty much play with the iPad app open, and check my weight, map, manage inventory, can even snap-change weapons during battle, use stims, etc., without pulling up the menu.
