As interesting as it may be...that blog was poorly written and lacking facts

For example:

On Jan. 8, 1835, all the big political names in Washington gathered to celebrate what President Andrew Jackson had just accomplished. A senator rose to make the big announcement: "Gentlemen ... the national debt ... is PAID."

He should have used the senator's name.

I once ate a rice crispy treat while taking a dump and one rice crispy fell of and landed in my pants. When I stood up it fell into my shoe and I was too lazy to take my shoe off and for the rest of the day it was there to shame me for what I'd done.

This blew my mind today.

We used to institutionalize more people than what we imprison today. The sum of the two reached a minimum around 1980.

This was also a maximum in property crime.

Mozart's full name is Johannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus Mozart, but he went by Wolfgang Amade (not Amadeus) or Wolfgang Gottlieb.

You probably know that the 13th amendment, passed in 1865, abolished slavery.

You probably didn't know that in 1861, an amendment that guaranteed state's rights to slavery passed the house and senate, was signed by the president, and was even ratified by some states. This amendment basically outlawed future amendments like the 13th one we know of today.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corwin_Amendment

This blows my mind:

Quote :
"This proposed amendment is still pending before the state legislatures for ratification, because Congress submitted it to the state legislatures without a deadline. Since the Thirteenth Amendment abolishing slavery was adopted in 1865, the Corwin Amendment lost whatever momentum it had."

WHAT?

TIL, the person known as Roe from the Roe vs. Wade court decision is now a pro-life campaigner. She actually fights to have that very decision overturned, even though she was the plaintiff.
