you completely misrepresented that article in your post. It is not required to own an assault rifle in Switzerland. There is no Swiss army so they keep a standing militia conscripting a number of people between the ages of 20-30. They provide these people with a fully auto rifle and ammo while in conscription. They are also required to go to weapons and military training very much like our national guard. Once they are done with their training they have to return both weapons and ammo, they can opt to keep the weapon, but the govt removes the auto feature.
